    Teac 22" powering to standby

Hi, I've got a Teac 22" lcd, it had no life at all, I changed three caps (to the right on the pic) then I had a standby light, and the tv turned on.
Now it takes about six attempts at turning the mains on and off to get the standby light on, the tv turns on every time once the standby light is on.
Where would I be looking to find why the tv takes so many attempts to turn on to standby.
The pic was one I found on the net, I need a better camera to take close up pics.
    Thanks.

What brand and series of capacitors did you use? General purpose caps won't work.

If you used good caps, the most likely suspect is the small electrolytic cap next to the biggest one. In situations like this, it makes sense to replace ALL the caps (with the possible exception of the large one) with name brand low ESR caps.

Cheers for reply Bill, the 3 I replaced were all panasonic, just changed the small one(50v 20uf capxon) with a s/h one from a good pc psu, and it's still the same, takes several attempts to go to standby, I know it's a s/h cap but I don't have a new one and thought I'd try this to see if any change.
Any other ideas what to change/check.
      Thanks.

        1) Panasonic what? Panasonic makes several series of caps. Some are general purpose and some are low ESR.

It is like saying I have a problem with my Panasonic TV? Panasonic makes LCD and plasma TVs with several versions of each.

        2) What is s/h? Is that a low ESR cap? Just because it came from a working PC power supply doesn't mean it is a good cap. I have seen several working ATX power supplies with bloated caps.

Samsung UE46F6400AWXXC not powering on, standby LED off
          by UltimateNeutrino
Hello, since yesterday our Samsung UE46F6400AWXXC no longer powers on, with the standby LED off. It turned off when someone attempted to clean it, not sure if related. A few days ago, there was a similar issue, but it was solved after unplugging and replugging the power. Additionally, another user of this TV reported issues of the screen turning off randomly, which were solved changing the channel.

I originally suspected the PSU, but if the mainboard is unplugged the PSU relay closes and the backlight turns on. It's only when the mainboard is connected that the relay doesn't close...

In the meantime I could not see any damage to any caps on the cold side of the power board, so I have replaced all of them.

Unplugged the power connector on the board, I plugged the power cable in waited...

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
          by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
          by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

          Samsung BN44-00259A standby question
          by Crystaleyes
          Hi all.

I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.
