    Samsung LW26A33WX - no backlight (sound is good)

    Got this from the local tip for cheap, thought I would have a go at fixing it. Anyway when powered on it does the Samsung chime but nothing appears on the screen. I tested the inverter transformers and found #4 to be failed (open secondary; all others measure ~1.5kohm.) I'll report back if it is fixed by a new transformer.

                  Only £20 from the local tip and £10 to fix, sold it for 3x that. And another TV saved from landfill.

                  I also fixed a 37" Philips LCD TV (my first 1080p set) with a new transformer. Very common failure on Darfon boards.

                      I've got to chime in that the spirit of this website is the
                      coolest.

                      Not just for making a few bucks and having
                      some fun (and frustration!), but preventing a general
                      waste of resources, and discouraging the disposable
                      nature of the world's consumerist culture, where
                      new things are preferred over used.

                          I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

                          Hello everyone,
                          Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
                          The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
                          He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
                          I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
                          Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                          - it keeps rebooting
                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

                          Hi all,

                          Ok so I have this beautiful un55h8000 samsung tv with sound but no video nor backlight. When turning the set on the red light blinks 5 times.

                          The screen shows no damage and backlight turns on when I disconnect the power supply from the main board. The tcon board only has 2 out of 3 leds on.

                          LG 43UF640V backlight good but black screen and no sound

                          Good morning.
                          I have a problem with my LG Smart 43UF640V TV. It starts, the backlight comes on but nothing is displayed on the screen and there is no sound.
                          I thought it was a TCon problem and ran various tests. If I disconnect one or the other of the cables from the tcon to the panel then the screen is white on the side where the cable is disconnected and black on the other side. If the two cables are disconnected the screen is completely black.
                          In the 4 configurations I measure exactly the same voltages on the tcon card (model V15 43UHD TM120 Ver0.4) :
