    Sony KDL-32L4000

Hello! This is my first time posting here. Just came across this website, and hoping the community here may be able to help me solve my problem.

I have a Sony Bravia 32". When I turn it ON, the picture shows for a moment, then goes blank. The TV stays on though, with the audio still playing. If I turn it off then back on, the picture will come on again, then go blank. It does this every time I turn it off and on. The picture itself looks fine when it's on, but it goes blank after a second or two of being on, every time.

Any ideas of what the problem could be? I don't know much about tv's, but if it's something I could possibly fix on my own that would be great! Thanks.

Just wanted to add I was talking to some people about my problem, and they suggested that it could possibly be the backlight inverter board going out.

This is the classic 'Two seconds to black'. Possible causes include bad caps, bad transformer on the inverter, bad CCFLs or the connection to the CCFLs, or a problem with the protection circuitry.

The chances of your repairing it yourself depends on your skill set. We have people here who design their own power supplies, power supply testers, and class D Audio amps. We also have some who cannot measure the voltage across a capacitor without damaging something.

The first step is to take the back off the TV and take a picture of the electronics. We need a good, clear, well lit picture of the entire back of the TV. Try to make it at least 1000 x 1000 pixels. Attach it to your next post using 'manage attachments' - below the text entry area.

The service manual is available at Elektrotanya.

I plan on taking the back off this weekend and taking some snap shots. Thanks for the service manual link. I havn't done any type of work on tv's before, but I am mechanicly inclined. I see this as a good opportunity to learn something new.
