    Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues

Ok guys I see all above was posted awhile back, hope someone has a fix for this other than replacing the entire power supply board. But still at 270 its better than a new set at over 1k. I replaced the 3 cap that were slightly domed,, issue continues, no pic and chirping ZD904 /02 look like there "might" be an issue there but as above I'm thinking (non-qualified) it might be the transformer last numbers in a string of ,, a lot,,, J737.

Replaced three shorted diodes and same chrip. Not resolved. Left to believe the small transformer is at fault...

    Exact same problem here...

Replaced all 4 caps then removed center transformer but I can't identify the diodes you speak of. I don't know if these pics are any better but would can point them out please?

I also have picked up a few tvs that were recapped and found bad diodes in the power supply.

The chirping is start up attempt as Plainbill said.

I'm just curious why three out of the four caps were replaced? Change the last one just to rule it out. Also, there are two diodes beneath the transformer that look like they took a little heat.

I have worked on quite a few of these LG Philips power supplies lately and have found that a shorted transformer is the culprit most of the time. Unfortunately you will not be able to find a transformer anywhere and have to replace the whole supply if that is the problem.

One of the connectors goes to the power on switch which has an led. The led is lit and changes from red to green when pressed. The chirping only occurs when the power button is switched on. The power button turns green but the screen does not turn on.

As for the pictures, I apologize. I could not get my camera to cooperate with flash. The reflection took away everything that could be seen.
If they are genuine, those caps should be excellent.

Good information. That points to a problem with the main power supply. It appears there is only one output from the main supply and the diode on the large heat sink at the top of the first picture rectifies it. Make sure that diode is not shorted.

Many of us have found that taking a picture during daylight hours without a flash gives the second best results. The best pictures came from someone who had his own indirect lighting setup, but most of us can't justify the space for something like that.

One other possibility is a short in the load. There is a popular line of inverters supplied by LG that are notorious for causing problems.

Which capacitors did you replace, and what brand and series did you use for replacements?

I notice three output connectors. Is there any indication of the function of any of the pins on the connectors?

Also, please read this post, then review your pictures in that light.

    Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues

My phillips 42" LCD is having power issues. Upon taking it apart and examining the power supply, I noticed 3 of the caps were bad. Replacing these 3 caps did not resolve the primary issue. The transformer in the center is producing a consistent repeating chirping sound every second or so. I've repaired leaking caps in the past but never had to deal with an issue like this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
    by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Can't find exact matching caps for replacements, what should I get to prevent video issues?
    by SluggerB
I have an old Tivo. The Power Supplies are known to have caps that fail. Here are the caps that come with the original power supply:

I could not find replacement caps with the exact same specs. I followed an online guide and recapped the power supply with caps with these specs

The power supply now works, however the HDMI video is giving me eye strain. I don't know how a capacitor on a Power supply could impact an HDMI video signal, but it does, the Tivo interface has a flicker now and the color/brightness is off. So I want to get some new caps...

    Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
    by eryjus
    Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

Identifying caps on an old Zoom 9000
    by Paxman_Swede
    Hello!

I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

I have studied the board and...

Help with switching power supply caps
    by captain150
I'm trying to repair two old VCRs, they both have bad caps. One has leaky ones, the other would barely run until I subbed in some caps from another power supply I had laying around (though they are the wrong values). This vcr works for an hour or two, but then the power supply starts whining and the picture gets lines in it. I didn't replace all the secondary caps, so another voltage might still be problematic, or the values I used are too far off.
I've been on mouser and digikey but the options are a bit overwhelming. I just need some new ones that will work. They don't need to be top quality,...
