    Phillips Plasma dead or alive

Gotta free Phillips plasma mod. 50MF231D/37, chassis EP1.1U, that the owner replaced two 16V 3300uf caps on, (C8059 & C8060), on the PSU or power supply board. No/picture or sound. So far I've downloaded the service manual, but alas, the main power supply is not included in the schematic, but for some odd reason the DC to DC converter on the SSB is???

Main power fuse was blown, but replaced and it holds. 1V, 3V, 12V, 18V, 200V supplies power up and ripple looks okay, but error 14, (Audio supply Class D amp) is shown when SDM or service diagnostic mode is entered.. green front panel led shows 1 long flash & 4 short.

Voltage on audio amp supply rails is +11.9 & -11.9. Voltage on speaker wires is ~0.05volts. Leds 8001 & 8002 on PSU are both on steady which I think is good. The DC_PROT line between the PSU board and the SSM, (small signal board) is at 0.06V. On the SSB I can't seem to get on the U_Volt-Detect, H_Volt-Detect or Prot_Audio supply lines to measure powered up, as this is on the bottom of the SSB..unmarked surface mount components, very small and hard to reach while connected etc. Anyone fix a similar error problem on this unit? Seems a shame to trash it...

    Thanks

I've not worked on that particular model, but the class D audio amp was a weak point in Philips TVs. One quick test is to unplug the audio amp.

The reason the power supply isn't included in the service manual is it's a part of the plasma panel - supplied by Samsung.

The audio amp is on the SSB along with logic circuits for protection, DC to DC converters for 1v,2v and 3v, but its connected to the PSU via a cable, (connector 1M02). I pulled the cable and powered up the set. No more error 14 with connector off. If I put it back on the error 14 comes back. The voltage on the PSU with or without the audio amp connected is 11.95V. If I try to turn the 12V pot on the PSU up more than about 11.97V the PSU shuts down and an LED on the PSU alarm board puts out 2 flashes followed by a pause. This happens with the audio amp connected or not. Somehow the 11.95V and the fact that it can't be turned up to say 12V or even 12.5V maybe seems suspect since the factory as checked voltage tag on the panel says it was set 12.5V.

Re: Phillips Plasma dead or alive

More info. I found a web site with some Phillips PSU service info. Jumpers on CN1MO2, pins 7 & 4 and CN8006 pins 2 & 9 plus DIP jumper on RH set of DIP pins on PSU alarm board, allow stand alone operation and alarm board error code readout via alarm board LED. (Not to be confused with the front panel LED flashing codes). Ran test, no error codes stand alone - BUT - adjusting 12V pot to over 11.97V triggers 12V over voltage alarm on PSU alarm board. (two flashes on LED). I think the alarm board is called an HIC8001 and the 12v seems to be monitored as a 2 to 3 volt signal on Pin 5 so I guess I'll check that next...still not certain PSU is really the issue, or the only issue.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Power supply Manson NTP-5561 (5661) LCD controller dead - PIC18F87K90 HEX dump required
          by Andreas_de
          Hello!

i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.

Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
          by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

Samsung QE 75 Q 7 FGMTZG Power Supply dead
          by kevin_allein
Hi, have this Samsung QE 75 Q 7 FGMTZG TV with no function. First analysis shows the power supply board is dead and fuse blown. Power Supply has the number BN94-11439A. I did short circuit test transistor and diodes and those do not appear to have shorts. I must admit I did not look at every single data sheet.
In the TV was some black dust residue, so probably one of the electrolytic caps blew, but they do not show short either.

Does anyone have schematics for that board ?
Any good tip, what could be the issue ?
