42" Akai PDP42X2 Plasma help please!!!

I have a 42" akai plasma tv I am having trouble diagnosing. It has a weird problem when you power it up it has two bars one blue one red about 2inches wide apiece that go all the way down the left side of the screen. The Akai splash screen comes on then it searches for a input signal . Problem is the screen goes screwball turns red or colors are not what their supposed to be. If I grab the frame of the tv and very slightly give it a twist all is normal and the blue and red bars go away. But as soon as I release it it starts going screwball again. I thought maybe a loose ribbon cable or bad ground, but I cannot find anything wrong except two caps on the ysus board, 250wv 330uf , appear to be bulging a little on the tops and are spongy. Could this be my problem. I have included pics of what it looks like. The last pic is with the little tweak to frame. Sometimes when I power it up the red and blue bars come on the screen then they flash brighter and the whole screen turns black, then it doesn't matter how much I tweak it it does nothing. I am a newbie so please be patient with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Typically this is due to a bad X (vertical) driver. If the drivers are on a separate board it's repairable. If they are bonded to the ribbon cables at the bottom of the plasma panel, it's considered to be unrepairable. For what it's worth, this is an early LG panel.

LG 55LF652V-ZA flashing led bars despite their replacement
      by Akira81
      Hello everyone,

I have this 55" LG 55LF652V-ZA smart TV which suddenly started flashing intermittently every 2 seconds with the backlight.

If I aimed the light bulb of my cell phone I could see the underlying image even in those fractions of time when the LEDs were off and the audio instead came out continuously.

Armed with a lot of space and patience, I decided to open the TV, immediately noticing that a LED had flamed out and also burned a portion of that reflective white panel behind the transparent LED diffusers.

Samsung Plasma Intermittent Vertical Bars (repeatable) PN50B430
      by JesusJones
Trash picked this plasma for parts and found it had some bad solder joints. It powered on after reworking most of the boards and seems like it may even work.

The symptoms is, when showing a picture of bright (mostly white) intensity (within the affected area only) a vertical strip 2 3/4" wide will begin to fuzz out (just to the right of samsung logo, 16 3/8" from screen edge), and soon turns black (from top to bottom). Changing to a darker scene immediatley ater will cause the black stripe to fade back in (it fuzzes and clears up again) and it starts working just fine....

      Panasonic TH-50PX60U Plasma Black Bars
      by canadaboy25
Hey guys, I have a Panasonic plasma here with two black rectangles in the display. As you can see from the picture, they affect the menus as well. Both black rectangles extend to exactly the center of the screen. I'm not super familiar with the workings of the display driver layout. Would this indicate a bad ribbon connection on the top and bottom boards? The TV has ribbons along the entire top and bottom of the display.

      Any ideas are appreciated....

      Samsung UN46C8000XFXZA vertical bars/horizontal lines
      by x_orange90_x
I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

      LG 65UQ70 horizontal bars jumping
      by CapLeaker
So I bought this LG 65UQ70 today at Walliworld. Put the wall mount on, set it up, worked for 30 mins and then I get these jumping horizontal bars. Let the TV do updates and let it cool down for 5 mins. Worked perfect for 2 mins. As soon the TV is warm I get the jumping vertical bars again.

Keep the other TCL thread in mind. Now I am questioning are all COVID 2022 / 23 TV’s bad or what? That’s two 65” TV’s one from Amazon and this one from Walmart. What are the chances on that?

I guess this one goes back either later today or tomorrow morning, unless...
