Moved from monitors to TVs now (variety is the spice...) and found mostly the same issues as for monitors but recently inherited this 17" Wharfedale (haven't model number to hand at the moment) that functions fine except that it goes into standby at exactly 5 minutes every time irrespective of a signal or not!. I have timed it on numerous ocassions and it goes to standby at exactly 4.59 mins every time. Some posts suggest a poor connection on the Scart port but I have tried a signal in from every source into every port (both Scarts, Ant , S video, VGA etc.) and it still goes to sleep on the dot of 5 mins and the red standby light appears. Press startup again and it fires up and the process starts all over again. Quite a few posts of this problem on the web with this tv but no real solutions offered. It has been suggested that the sleep function is enabled (have checked in the menu and it is not activated) and some even suggetsed the batteries in the remote!! - ruled out!
There is mention of a timer SMD on the board in one post which is presumably connected to the input on the Scart etc. but I have no idea how valid this statement is. Can anyone confirm this mechanism and identify what such a chip may look like so I can start troubleshooting ? Or has anyone had the same problem and solved it?
