Lenovo Flex 5 14ITL05 - will only sleep if commanded to through start menu>power icon

This laptop refuses to sleep unless specifically commanded to sleep through Windows. If I close the lid, the screen does go dark just before the lid is closed, so it appears the hall sensor works. However, it will sit there, drawing 1.xx amps until the battery dies. If I command it to sleep, it drops down to normal sleeping current. If I have it sleeping with lid closed and I disconnect the power adapter, it will wake from sleep, even with the lid closed. I have updated the firmware, but still the fault persists. I've also verified power settings in Windows that the device is to sleep when the lid is closed. What else can I check?

**UPDATE** It won't even sleep if I command it to. If I choose to shut it down, it will shut down properly, but when I close the lid, it powers back on!

    Model Flex 5 14ITL05
    Serial# PW025AR3

    1) Reduce the caffeine. Try warm milk before bedtime.

    2) Do you have anything inside of the M.2 slot (WLAN)? Remove it. Test again. The PCIE_WAKE_N signal may be a factor here.

Thank you for the response! I did remove the WLAN adapter from the M.2 but the fault persists.

Try the HARD RESET idea. This apparently will reset the hard drive so be aware of this.

To perform a hard reset (factory reset) on a Lenovo Flex 5 laptop, locate the Novo button (a small pinhole reset button), press it with a paperclip while the laptop is powered off, and follow the on-screen instructions to choose "Remove everything" to erase all data and restore the system to factory settings.
        Here's a more detailed breakdown:
        1. Locate the Novo Button:
        • The Novo button is a small pinhole reset button, usually located on the side or near the power button of the Flex 5 laptop.
        • It's often marked with a small arrow symbol.

        2. Power Off the Laptop:
        • Make sure the laptop is completely powered off.

        3. Press and Hold the Novo Button:
        • Use a paperclip or similar pointed object to gently press and hold the Novo button for a few seconds (around 3-5 seconds).
        • You might hear a click or see the power button light blink.

        4. Choose System Recovery:
        • After pressing the Novo button, the laptop will boot into the System Recovery menu.
        • Use the arrow keys to navigate to "System Recovery" and press Enter.

        5. Choose Troubleshoot and Reset this PC:
        • Select "Troubleshoot" and then "Reset this PC".
        • Choose "Remove everything" to erase all data and restore the system to factory settings.
        • If you want to keep your files, choose "Keep my files".

        6. Follow On-Screen Instructions:
        • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.
        • This process may take some time (30-60 minutes).

        7. Initial Setup:
        • After the reset is complete, the laptop will restart and prompt you to set up the system as if it were new.
        • Select your language, country, keyboard layout, and other settings.

        Important Notes:
        • Back Up Your Data:
Before performing a hard reset, it's highly recommended to back up any important data, as the reset process will erase everything on the hard drive.
        • Ensure AC Adapter is Plugged In:
Make sure the laptop is connected to the AC adapter during the reset process to avoid any power issues.
        • Lenovo OneKey Recovery (OKR):
Some Lenovo Flex 5 models may have Lenovo OneKey Recovery (OKR) which allows you to restore the system to factory defaults from a recovery partition.
