Re: Dell W2600 lcd TV fault

Have found this post whilst searching the power on issue?

I realize this post is probably late now but I did come accross one of these Dell little Jewels a couple of weeks ago. After reviewing the problems everyone has had with these I have found the problem that is the fix to this issue. It is not the power supply at all. Leave it alone. The problem can be found on the logic main board. I have seen a post that it is the memory chip located at I232 but that is not the problem either and if it was most people would not be able to replace it anyway because the part is surface bond mounted which means it is not to be removed. the problem is with the LM1117 800mA Low-Dropout Linear Voltage Regulators. There are two of them located close to the main power connector and one more is located on the lower right hand area of the board. These are fine tuned and if they malfuction due to heat then they will send a signal to the power supply to shut down. They have a thermal sensor in them. The part can be replaced with several others but should be replaced with the 2.5v chip. The older the monitor has become before this problem occures may result in damage to memory chip located at I232 which will of course make these monitors trash. After all three are replaced on the locic board with exact same brand and part; you will find two small reset buttons loacted in the middle of the main logic board and those should be reset by pushing them both at the same time after power is reapplied to the unit just to reset any errors that were recorded before unit would not power on or shut off after 10 seconds. The unit is not going into standby mode; it is going into shutoff lock mode. Changing only one of these parts out will only result in the problem occuring later; ussally in 45 to 60 minutes after unit is up and running. It will either shut off or stay on but lock up and do nothing. I hope this helps someone who never gave up. Dell will not fix this problem because of the time involved. Time wise it is too expensive. Lite on made the boards inside and Samsung supplied alot of the components. It is not all Dells fault but they could have been more proactive in helping us figure out the problem.

Do not bother with this tv. Check the power on command line that turns power supply on. If it does not change when power button is pushed then board is junk. That is far, far common failure on the mainboard and cannot be repaired and capacitors are not the issue! Funny thing on PSU many of them light green are 125C. I have one too. And LCD resolution is not standard also.
          1280x768. Google "W2600 no power"

          Cheers, Wizard

Hi Wizard thanks for your reply, thing is, this TV does switch on most times and work perfect once on, makes me think could be repaired, have ordered those regulators as last ditch attempt

            thanks Ronnie

Oh well! replaced the 3 regulators no change, I managed to buy another set on Ebay with a backlight fault for £26 + £8 shipping, will see what can be done when that one gets here, at least I might be able to verify which board the fault lies with

My brother has the same TV with the same symptoms. I've been poking around inside it. I'm very interested in finding out what is wrong and the fix.

For me it turned out to be the logic board! replaced it from a scrap set and never looked back, been working for many weeks now

                        by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

                        by popzeggey
I have a dell e7450 that shuts down abruptly when on and tries to restart. When the laptop attempts to restart, the hdd and wifi led is solid but power/battery led blinking hdd. Fault Description The memory modules are detected but encountered an error.

I have tried all basic troubleshooting steps like removing the battery and pressing power button for 30secs but issue persists. I have tried different fully working rams but issue persists. Any help would be much appreciated

                        by Akhlz001
                        Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

                        by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

                        Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.
