"a major issue with these supplies is q7, a small surface mount npn transistor. When this puppy goes bad, the supply pulsates, meaning your +5v line may run from 4.0-5.9 and it oscillates back and forth. It also causes I believe c36 to fail as well. Replace this transistor, I use any reasonable npn transistor and u should be fine."

Thanks I have subed a 2n222a and still have 5v . I also removed the zener d4 for testing and may have reinstalled it in reverse . After 75 years you start to do things like this can you give me the correct orintation of the diode ?

On most boards, manufacturers denote the orientation using a line (or stripe) on the PCB to indicate the cathode side should be oriented towards that stripe.

I just got a Viewsonic N3250W the other day someone decided to repair themselves (see the attached image). The power supply is a updated version of the fsp212-3f01, the fsp212-3f02.

Anyhow, notice the stripes which indicate the orientation.

              Hello,

              MB: Acer GH4FZ LA-L202P Rev 1.0
              Model no: Acer Swift SFX14-41G

My laptop has random shutdown during use no matter high or low loading since a year ago, but still can be restarted. One day, it got very hot at the bottom near the power chip (PUB1) during use, and finally shutdown when in use and cannot switch on again (like dead), so I suppose there is no major failures and power issue should be fixable.

There is no visual burnt or component damage, I tracked the power rail that the power seems blocked at charger chip (PUB1), measured some resistors...

Having trouble getting Flexbv to work to view openboarddata files
              by Thefixinator
Hey guys, I'm feeling like a noob trying to get flexbv to work to be able to download and view a particular board view of a mac mini 2018. Ive tried to read how to use the open board data but it's appearing to be a little confusing on how to actually look up a particular boardview. I'm using the free version to get my feet wet with the software. Ive checked to make sure under the program preferences the openboarddata.org is in the right spot which appeared to be there by default but im not able to open up and board preference to search for a specific board view. I'm probably confused on how it...

Behringer Eurolive B205D repair - help identifying transistor
              by magneh
              Hello
Got this speaker from a friend , defective. Power led comes on and off , in a loop.
Disassembled, got the board out, and after a bit of measuring I found a low resistance on a 5v6 line. With a bit of current I found a transistor heating up on that line (labeled T1 and 113 as on pic).
After removing this guy, I got a value of 0.7 in diode mode on that 5v6 line, which before had 0.02 or something like that.

I tested powering it up without the IC, and the speaker turns on and stays on, and works fine

Still, I need to replace this transistor....
