Ok the deal is this I got a free 42" toshiba rear projection TV with the Hyper Module(scan converter) problem. Thought I could fix it and would have by now if I had'nt made the mistake of pulling a solder pad off the board. Any way I replace the 11 10uf 16v caps couldnt find the little ones that are on the board so I replaced with wire legged caps. Plugged in set look like it was going to work image fluctuated TV shut off and I noticed smoke comming from the module I quickly unpluged it heard what I thought was the TV speakers but that sound could have been a cap on power board blowing. Well looking at the board there's either what is called a transistor or a power regulator that got fried and damaged the board itself. My question is could the wrong caps have caused the surge? Tv operated before this Module work but now the power light just blinks. In addition to help with this question can anyone point me to where the power short might be? I am currently replacing legged caps with identical ones I believe are rated the same.

It doesn't help that you posted this TV question in the FAQ section. Using a descriptive title of your problem would also help.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

If it is a pdf file, post it using manage attachment here. With your method, you are asking people to accept some encrypted URL that may or may not contain a virus.
