    VW42LHDTV10A sound but, no picture

okay i have a 42'' Vizio that i brought about 3years ago..it recently went out (no pop sound) just went black..the sound was still there but no picture at all..everything was functional..power on/off ,volume, changed the channel that also worked...just couldnt see anything...so after much research i decided it was a bad inverter board...i opened up my TV and notice 2 bad caps on the slave board..so i changed those out, thinking i was good...but STILL no picture..so i then checked to see if i had 24vdc goin to the master board and the slave board via the power board...which i did...so now im confused..its not the power board...the master board looks fine..the slave board got the bad caps replaced and still no picture...

now when i first took the back off the TV and plugged it in as soon as i turned on the power i saw a "blue spark" comin from the masterboard and that didnt look right...so im leaning towards replacing the masterboard or both boards all together...i called a repair shop and they said it would cost around 300-400 to fix it....FUCK THAT!!!!

any clue what it could be?

well, any board that sparks is not a good thing. Were you able to shine a flash light at the screen to see if you get any picture? I no you said that you repaired the inverter, but if you don't have any picture with a flash light there is a bigger issue somewhere else.

the blue light came from a led on the master board, but it only happen once(when i turned it on for the 1st time in a long time)....then when i tried to take resistance readings on it i got a open..so maybe that went bad,im not too sure...
yeah i did the flashlight test...its completely black i cant see anything...i priced both master/slave boards and it came out to $120 plus the $13 i already spent on a solder kit/2 new caps...so all together its gonna cost around $135-$150...thats much cheaper than sending it to a repair shop...

but u said the problem could be bigger than the inverter boards? like what? and how can i know for sure?

Even without the inverters working - you should still be able to see a picture on the screen using a flash light. If there is nothing, it's a sign that there is a problem further down the line, and doesn't rule out that the inverter could be damaged too.

GOOD NEWS!!! i fixed my TV... both master and slave inverters came in the mail..took 5 mins to install then...wallah!!! my picture came back..so im guessing one of my inverters went bad not sure which one it was so i just changed both...it only costed me $125 for both boards and for shipping...so i saved about $300-400 by doing it myself...thanks for all the feedback!!

Hi my name is john, I'm from Ar. and I have the same issue. I want to fix the boards if possible. I have replaced bad caps on both master and slave. What are the other common component failures and testing procedures for these boards?

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
              by TR103
              Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
              - sound and backlight, but no picture
              - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
              - it keeps rebooting
              - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
              - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
              - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

              - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
              by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started β€˜fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly β€˜new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
              by Ierwin
              Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
              by jchang
              Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

              Symptom:
              No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
              No sound at all.

              What I tried:
              1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

              by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
