42 LG 42V7 series EDTV ZSUS Problem

Hi there folks,

I was just repairing a LG plasma EDTV that I just put my hand on recently and i have found that the Zsus was defective. So I went on and unscrewed the board from the back of the TV and I tried to pull the IC out of the board because it has shorted (open ) connection IC CHGND had continuity with all SUS_UP_OUT and SUS_DN_OUT and ER_UP_OUT and ER_DN_OUT.

So I decided to extract the IC from the board . IT was a real pain because I did not have a powerfull enough soldering iron since im use to small job. I have to take a heatgun plus alot of time and little by little i was able to extract it.

Well , i discovered that the ic was blown from the inside and i detroyed the board...

Do you think I can simply use the board and put a new IC or get a new Xsus board.

What if i put the new board in and it blow the exact same way . Was the power responsable for this or it was only a matter of time and the IC was at the end of his circle life ?

Chip quik would have save you alot of trouble. As for the Board I think ER_DN maybe a problem soldering. The other solder pad looks ok but do a continuity test of each pad and check into the service manual to confirm which pin on the chip is being used.
