    Acer AT3201W color problem

    Start up screen good.
Blue screen with no signal screen good.
Input any video source look like a weak picture tube's image on a LCD tv.
    Power supply's cap look ok.
What else could cause problem like this?

One question, have you adjusted it from "warm" to cool? any difference? is this on all sources or just one?

      The problem is the caps.

Please list what brand, series, value and diameter and someone may advise you what to replace them with.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

All sources, and check with different video settings, no good.

Rubicon caps on power supply is good.
and the caps on the main logic board also looks good, but using Tempo caps.

I got a second main board, (with a different type lcd panel) put it up and the color comes back. But the image is off center.
Swap eprom U33 24LC32A between the 2 board would got the image like the first post and the image like this post.
Not bad capacitor in this case.
Anyone here can send me an image of this eprom or can help to re-program this eprom?

              Re: Acer AT3201W color problem

I have this TV which CAN display a perfect picture, but it's brain is shot and can't remember the settings:

The problem is the U33 eeprom (24LC32A) which apparently writes once per second and is guaranteed for 1 million writes - that's only 277 hours of 'on time' which is a HUGE DESIGN FLAW in the firmware. Supposedly there is an updated 'fixed' f/w, but I can't find it...

The factory menus can be accessed by pressing the [VOL -] and [CH +] buttons simultaneously, and the colour gains and biases (see below) can be altered. But the TV does not remember them because the eeprom is toast.

I may just replace the eeprom, it's surface mount so a very difficult and precise task. I don't know if it needs to be programmed? In hacking around with the factory menus I noticed a 'ghosted' menu that had an 'update' selection. This ghost menu was displayed as a random bug and didn't function properly - and I'm not even sure how it came to be displayed. I was just pressing buttons randomly trying to see what was up. The s/w and f/w in this TV is crudely written crap.

If there is a USB port on the tv I will see if a computer can access anything in the TV.

I contacted ACER for new f/w binary and how to install it, so far NO RESPONSE, of course...

factory menu colour gains and biases:
Typical settings (to get a good picture)
              R gain: 434
              G gain: 482
              B gain: 484
              R bias: 270
              G bias: 270
              B bias: 264

                by mmccomputer
I have an HP model : 14-cf0011nf and I want to change its display screen (it has an original 14" full HD TN 30 pins panel) which works without problem but I want to put another screen with an IPS panel, the problem is that I tried several screens but there is no display except with the original screen, I never had this problem before I changed hundreds without problems but this PC is not 'accepted than its original screen
otherwise on the motherboard it displays edp and I don't know, do the panels I tried only work with the LVDS protocol?

                by Chrissygizmo
                Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...
