    Hitachi 42hdt52a

I am going to look at a hitachi plasma 1080p 42hdt52a. The unit is dead.
I was wondering what company made this model. I have a couple of hitachi
mosfet drive plasmas( a bit older ) and they work ok. I am not impressed with the power supplies and mostly had buffer issues with the 720p units. These looked alot like panasonic inside.

Any input on these would be great. Thanks!

One solid clue is the plasma panel and support cards. Those usually show the manufacturer. And of course, pictures help.

I would normally run over the guys house a buy the tv, but I am getting more picky as prices drop. I have not seen this tv yet and its a bit different than the hitachi (2007) I have.

If the price is right I will just grab it anyway (1080p).

Thanks for the info Plainbill. I will research it.

Worse. Actual panel resolution is 1000 x 1000.

What does that mean for picture quality?

Well, it's quite non-standard now. Back when the panel was built it was a big improvement. Right now my wife swears by the plasma set in her office, that's a 42" 1024 X 768.

The spec on this screen is 1024x1024 according to the service manual. I am not sure how a typical 720p or 1080 plasma is affected by screen resolution. I never had a reason to understand video until now.

My 2003 pioneer is a 1080i. I have no idea what the panel resolution is. It has the best picture I have ever seen.
