    TCL 4-Series Panel Swap?

I cracked my panel on my 50S421 replacing backlights and I found a tv online I'd like to use as a donor if possible. The model in question is a 50S434. They are both in the 4 series and obviously both are 50". Does anyone know if the panels are the same or close enough? The only difference I see is one is Roku and the other is Android TV.

I don’t think it’s compatible. Also there are several versions of these TVs that use different tcon boards between them.

That's true, there are way too many variations. I believe my 421 has a TCON and the 434 does not. This means the 434 scaler boards would have the tcon components on them I believe whereas the 421 wouldn't.

If I can get this tv cheap enough it might be worth it to swap the panel and the boards into the other one with new back lights. That is if the mounting holes are the same.

I don't see how it's cost effective to make 7 different versions of the same tv using all different part configurations

I just checked ShopJimmy and apparently there is a 421 WITH a TCON and one WITHOUT it. I have the LDAA which has one, so I guess they're not compatible.

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
        by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?
        by Lee M.
TV came on with BL on but blank screen. Disconnected one of the ribbon cables from tcon to panel driver board and now I have half of the screen working normally. Any way to tell if the problem is with the tcon or the panel driver board or the panel itself? Should I just replace the tcon and see what happens?

Insignia Roku ns-50dr620ca18 (NS-50DR620NA18) bad panel or tcon ic?
        by MikeRWK
Picked up this roku tv yesterday. Its got colored vertical lines on both sides of the screen, some flickering vertical lines, and image stabilization issues. The guy said his kid threw a controller at it, but the screen doesn't seem physically damaged.

When I unplug the cable going from the main board to the tcon the screen is all black for what its worth. What I want to know is if the screen is damaged or the tcon? All the voltages on the tcon checked out but that doesn't mean the tcon ic isnt damaged.

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
        by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
        a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
        b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...
