Samsung UE55RU8000 power cycling (turning on and off)

I've owned this tv for 3 years when all of a sudden it started power cycling - with no apparent cause. It's not in warranty.

I know this appears to be a fairly common issue, but would appreciate some guidance as I have no idea what i'm doing.

I have taken the back off and when either of the two ribbons connected to the main board are disconnected, no image other than the back light appears on the screen, but the sounds runs. This happens with both ribbons and when they are both in place, the power cycling starts again.

Is there any recommendations on what I could do? Or some step by step troubleshooting?

Incredibly frustrating and not in a financial position to buy a new tv.

One thing to add - sometime it will work for 30 mins/1 hour out of the blue and then revert back to not working.

Common issue with the Samsungs. Generally is a panel issue and isn't really fixable. Try this on video and see if it's your panel. https://youtu.be/RZgyOaJlsZw?si=4smv5Ciq0X0Rj28z

Good place to start. Try and cover like 8-10 pins at first.

Thank you for the reply. I had tried the tape method on both of the ribbon cables, but the power cycling still persisted. I can this more extensively. The main board did appear to be fairly hot when turned on, so that is also something I can look into.

        Samsung UN55FH6030: random power cycling
        by valvashon
Samsung UN55FH6030, perfect size for my office and does OTA well but isn't a smart TV. That's OK because I am a TV station engineer and only need it for OTA monitoring.

About a month ago it started power cycling itself once or twice a day and now it's nearly continuous once it's been on for a few minutes. Changing channels would really start it cycling and it would take several minutes to stabilize but now it's just doing it almost non-stop without changing channels.

Once I disconnected the antenna I found that I could change channels with no issues. My guess is...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off
        by Journey11
        Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
        by PantherDave
        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Hello everybody, I could use some help on this one... It's got me guessing...
I took pictures of all the boards and the pin out of the connector on the power supply that goes to the main board... I measured all the pins in relation to chassis ground, here are the result.

        (B13v)1. 12.7 volts cycling (Vamp) 2. 12.7 volts cycling
        (B13v)3. 12.7 volts cycling (PWM5) 4. 1.0 volts cycling
        (OD_LE)5. 2.8 volts cycling (PWM4) 6. 0.9 volts cycling
        (OD_ON)7. 2.8 volts cycling (PWM3) 8. 0.9 volts cycling
        9. ground (PWM2) 10. 0.9 volts cycling...

        Hello!

My second TV to fix, first one was a success So the problem with this one is the power cycling. At first I did the led test, plug out MB (mainboard) and plug the powercable. Backlights turn on and TV stays on.

At the moment MB is plugged in, standbylight turns on, TV turns off for a couple of seconds and then tries to start. Backlight flashes bright, dims out and TV turns off while PSU is having a faint ticking or clicking noise. TV stays off for a couple of seconds and tries to start again. This power cycle happens for as long powercable is plugged....
