    LG 20LC1RB lcd tv

hello everyone. been a while since i've posted here. i have rescued a lcd from the dump. symptoms are as follows.

powers on ok. screen lights up. all button features work. after 5 - 10 minutes screen will go a little wonky. flashes dark, then blue, goes red, vertical lines. then it runs normal. it does this in intervals sometimes but always runs normal again. i got a couple pictures posted of the screen (sorry time for new camera) but i will post the guts soon. just thought if anyone has seen this before and what to look for inside. im thinking all caps are good as it goes haywire then works. thanks.

If you have a fan, try pointing a fan at the back to keep it cool and see if the picture goes wonky. If it runs fine for about 30 minutes with the fan, you know it is heat related.

I would look for poor solder joints and chips getting hot.

tried the fan method. no change. now it turns on ok with sound and it takes 15 - 20 minutes display to come on now. kind of similar to middle pic i posted but flashes like that for a bit when its ready to come on then it stays on.

I would go through check all the onboard voltage regulators, if any overheats.
Monitor the output voltage of the most suspected regulators, and see if a dropping voltage may occour when the screen go weird.

Can we get pics of the backside (solder side) of both boards? Sometims poor solder joints are the cause of this. As the board/LCD warms up, the solder joints move/shift.

It is hard to tell from the photos, but look for solder cracks like this

all over both boards. Sometimes a magnifying glass will help because you can't see everything with the naked eye.

ok will do. safe to say the power side is ok and the signal board side is the one to focus on as there is light showing but no display?

                      by G0RIT
Good evening I am working on a Reebok oneGT40s treadmill. It had a flashing display which the replacement of D3 rectified. However the lift motor now runs when the mains is turned on and does not stop. If I then select start so the tread motor runs and disconnect the up lead to the lift motor it stops. If I then reconnect the lead the lift motor works as it should with the controls. It will continue to work correctly until the mains is turned off and on again, or the safety device is removed and replaced. It then runs again and only by disconnecting and reconnecting the up lead will it operate...

I have finished my work. The new lights come on except the one for stereo, I reversed the bulbs to no affect, anyway, the unit powers on, relay clicks. I have no DC voltage in speaker outputs, I also do not have any AC in the speaker outputs. There is some faint crackling in the speaker. This unit cranks up loud so I had the volume on very low. Everything seems to be fine but I can't really check the switch until I can get sound out of the outputs. I was going to do caps for the power supplys and the tone board but thought if it was cranking loud at one time maybe just leave it alone until it...
