I have an old 27" CRT television set that's probably around a decade old. It's a hand me down and has given me no problems for as long as I've had it. I'm looking to have it upgraded to a 32" LCD TV sometime this year or within the next. I keep looking around on Cregslist trying to score one at a decent price. I've seen a few, but none that are what I'm looking for. Anyway, when I do, it will most likely not come with a warranty seeing as they notoriously short. Can I replace the caps in it with some Panasonic's or Rubycon's to help prevent a future failure that can possibly take other components with it.
Preventive Recaping?

by howardc64Just did this on my 2021 13" MBP M1. Dust-Gate design flaw still present. Depending on cleanliness of the operation environment (often eating while using MB is probably the worst). Periodic cleaning is probably warranted.
Note this is quite challenging effort. One misstep will damage the LCD flex and render it useless. So take it to someone more experienced if uncertain.

by dbuergiHi all,
i recently got a Macbook Pro A2141 with a load of dust and hairs inside. After cleaning everything and checking the logicboard it looks fine and only needs a new battery and i will replace the thermal paste.
Since this model can have serious moisture problems is there anything i can do as a protection? Cover sensible parts with a layer etc.?
I was not sure if this thread is correct here but i don't have any acutal repair on this machine.-

by EximThis Asus M2A-VM was running 24/7 for 12 years without problems. CPU was a TDP 45W DualCore only, but still, 12 years are 12 years. I'm preparing this board as a spare part, it has to replace another one with blown caps. So before using it as a spare part it obviously needs to be checked. Because of the collection of bad caps usually on this board I was prepared for the worst.
Surprise #1: This particular board is an "almost-exclusively-Panasonic" specimen. It has the usual four 1000/16 Chemi-Con KZG plus three Chemi-Con KMA. Instead of the usual single Sanyo WX there's... -
by nobbnobb1So I'm probably a decade behind on this, but my current NAS is a low power machine I built in 2009. It was originally running Windows Home Server, then eventually I migrated to Windows 10 using Storage Spaces for my drive expandability and redundancy. Despite being slow for W10, I love the familiarity and functionality so I never bothered getting into NAS specific OS.
Hardware wise, it's got 4x drives but the hardware is all super low draw, so the Antec EarthWatts EA380D power supply is barely above ambient. This PSU is apparently known for capacitor issues but when I went in to...-

The laptop initially presented graphic issues and driver failure (Code 43) for the GPU.
After preventive maintenance (cleaning, thermal paste, etc.), it powered on normally. We disassembled it again to inspect the GPU, reassembled... - Loading...
