OH I KNOW!

We could require all new refrigerators to have 6" of insulation instead of the typical 2" because that motor with the sucky PF kicking on all the time in millions of refrigerators is hurting the power companies wallet.
Oh and another!

Take that power hog 50-200 watt video card you have to recycle and use the on-board instead.
[And if you didn't and you're hooting about PFC being green then you're a hypocrite.]

Re: Digital power factor correction
Cirrus Logic claims that their new CS1500 chip uses a "digital solution" rather than the usual analog circuits. That definitely means the power supply will have greater efficiency.......doesn't it?????
I think a Bestec ATX-250 12E would look cool with DM311 5vsb mod, a CS1500 APFC mod, and a driver transistor mod between PWM chip and PWM FET transistor. That would mean that the "mains" capacitor would be running with 385 to 400 volts instead of 320 volts. Interesting (maybe spectacular!)................Leave a comment:

Re: Digital power factor correction
I agree with PC PFC means shit to me if the power co starts charging me for poor PF then I'll pay attention.
The only thing PFC did for me in the 1 active PFC supply I have is it buzzes like all hell on my APC modified sine UPS it's not too noisy but noticeable. I love that word modified sine more like 3 stepped square wave.Leave a comment:

Re: Digital power factor correction
Here's an idea.
Use ONE less light bulb in your house.
A 25 watt would be enough.
You'll save as much or more than PFC saves you and you won't have to pay for extra parts in your PSU to support the power companies agenda and wallet.
That's how big an advantage PFC is to CONSUMERS.

Looks like an interesting device. They claim that it "improves energy efficiency". Just don't let pcbonez see this one - he emphatically says that PFC cannot improve efficiency. We don't want to start another war on this thread!!!Leave a comment:

Marvell also has a discrete digital PFC solution as well.
I think microcomputer control for PFC and DC-DC converters (isolated and non-isolated, including plugpacks and ATX power supplies) is a great idea.Tags: None

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -

by meraklinetxHello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...
