    DPS 800 ruined :(

Hey guys, sorry if I look like one more idiot asking for help, but I really need your support and knowledge, I have a dps 800gb, I bought it because I needed to flash my BMW, maybe some of you don't know but when you flash with the program of BMW, the car needs 13v minimum, Only with the battery you get like 11.5v, the program won't work with that voltage, program stop when you are under 13. Anyways, I found good hardware to support the car with voltage but so expensive options.

Well, After asking in some BMW forums I found that a PSU could help, a friend told me that he uses a DPS 800 with de ovp disabled, 1kO resistor, and the cable to make it start. Everything went well before my mistake, I was reading the V with bad V selection as you can see in the picture, (I should use 20 not 200) So I think it was the problem. I overloaded it.

Yesterday it was working good but didn't connect to the car yet, Today I woke up so motivated, connected everything and boom, no power sending from psu, I tested and it was sending .11, I checked resistor and it was good, checked cables and everything was good, well As I overloaded it, I think I burned something, Could you please help me, what I should check? fan and psu turn on as normal but no power out.

Reading 12-14v on 20 vs 200 should only change the accuracy of the measurement. So on 200 setting you get 14.3, on 20 setting you get 14.32 (one more decimal place).

Did you open the case of the power supply to make any changes? Or did you use the resistor on the outside of the of the power supply?

Also in your picture are you connecting the power supply up directly to the car battery? Did you disconnect the battery first? Are you sure you have the polarity correct on the cables?

Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

Thanks for the info about reading Voltage.

Yes I opened it because I needed to hack the ovp, I removed one pin of a chip. after that, it was sending more than 13.7, before it if I went to 13.8 it activat the protection.

      As shown on minute 3:47

Polarity is totally correct, Actually it was working yesterday night on my car, I removed the ovp, Took it to 14.3v, and left it in my desk, today in the morning I used it and boom error came. I cant remove the battery cuz if I do that, the car doesn't work.

You did nothing wrong with the multimeter.
Check if you have standby voltages present, you need to remove your jumper first that I assume you have connected to PSON > GND
Also might help to post some photos of your modifications.

EDIT: This thread might contain some valuable troubleshooting info: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22540
