IDX camera power supply turns off after a while

IDX camera power supply turns off after a while when warmed up. But will turn on again quite quickly when power is cycled.

Any help on what to do to diagnose this fault would be very much appreciated.

A lot of the board's soldering (to through-hole parts) looks like fractured joints.
The DC output connect has a cracked GND pin, and another is burning the plastic - resolder all those 4 pins and check the connector.
Pins by R54, bridge rectifier etc. all look in need of resoldering.

Your problem is with a burnt contact in the plug, Red wire. Fix that and I bet it works fine.
I would just remove the wire from the plug and solder it direct to the +V hole next to the plug
That connection is getting hot and blackened the plug. It will also be corroded so would be cutting out

This would be one way to fix the bad red wire connection, you could remove the plug completely and solder the two black grounds and the red positive directly to the board
Once the plug gets hot like that, it takes the spring tension out of the metal contact and the connection gets worse.

If possible, replace both the harness connector (including contacts), and the PWA's connector, Chances are that the contacts on both connectors have been damaged. Or hard-wire the harness.

One of two things probably happened. 1. The crimp in the harness red wire contact was poor and gradually broke down due to increasing heat. 2. The service loop of the harness in so tight that it mechanically stressed the contact between the socket and pin, resulting in a gradual break down due to heat.

The latter, mechanical stress, can also deform low current signal contacts and result in intermittent contact (e.g. the PSON* or PG wires in a 20- or 24-pin ATX connector).

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

              Update.

I have removed the connector and soldered directly to the board. Will monitor the power supply over the next few days and report back.

Thanks to all of you for your fantastic advice and guidance.

I have tested the power supply for a couple of days now and am happy to report that it is running perfectly

Thanks once again to all of you for your comments and suggestions.

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

DVR camera recorder switching power supply capacitor failure really
                    by sam_sam_sam
These cheap non brand capacitors at it again

Last night we had a power outage [ long drawn out trying three to come back up before going out completely ] and when I went to turn the DVR camera recorder back today no go 3 bad capacitors ( one capacitor no ESR reading on DVR board the other 3 capacitor on the power supply board over 40 ohm this is not a misprint ) on the external switching power supply and one capacitor on the DVR camera recorder board where the power supply that goes to the hard drive disk is

Well at least I have the cameras back on line I to try the...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
                    by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...
