Help with Power supply on Compact portable III

I wonder if someone can help me with repairing this power supply. Its not a power supply like I have ever seen before with some through hole and some SMD parts. Its has a little PCB in it that on all other pictures I've seen on the web is always burned out and this one looks like it was going that way too. Some of the components are unrecognisable now and I haven't been alble to find a Schematic for this computer so its a bit of detective work too getting this fixed. Apart from this one circuit board the rest of the PSU is in great condition. If it turns out impossible I'm sure there must be a modern PSU that could be fitted into this machine that will bring it back to life.
There is a link below with some pictures in it and you can see on the little PCB that some of the components have left a black mark of their shape where they were and look to be maybe little 3 leg transistors but that's a guess.
I really will appreciate any help I can get as I am no expert on these things.

I see a custom FDK thick-film module that has burned up parts and traces. The flat dark green parts are resistors and many are burnt up. One transistor has popped and arced.

I think the power supply is impossible to repair unless you can find a replacement module, and even then any bad parts on the base board could just blow up your new module.

The power supply appears to be a 145W PC-type but with a 200VDC output for the gas plasma display. I'd probably take a new PC power supply (mini or micro ATX) that fits either in the portable's case or put the new PSU guts into the old PSU case, and find another way to make the regulated 200VDC for the display.

I could not find any schematics for the pinout of the PSU cable, or any more details.
This guy ended up in the same boat:

Thanks very much for the info its very useful.. It seems this was a common problem with these computers. I agree the best option is probably using a ATX PC power supply and ive got lots of spare ones I can use. I will have to try track down some info on the connections. Thanks again..
