Thanks for the reply RJ. Dont know if I am taking measurements from the wrong place. On the transformer there are 2 contacts on one side and 4 on the other. I am not getting any voltage reading on the single pair of contacts which I thought were the primary ones. I hooked the transformer up to my component tester and look at the photos to see the results I got. These were the only pairs of contacts that gave a resistance reading....2 Photos

I cant figure this one out at all. Its beyond my abilities to diagnose and work out where the fault lies. Ive checked most everything on the standby power supply board including the transistor, and all diodes plus I replaced the elecro cap and the transformer which I had to get from Germany and cost me £20. The fault must be elsewhere.

Think your right about the little transformer as can only get a reading on 2 contacts on one side of the transformer and nothing on any other pair of contacts. Could you possibly point to a suitable replacement on ebay or rs etc....

Yes your right its a typo sorry its HTR-630RDS.
i was meassuring the voltage across the cap with the 3 pin ribbon cable disconnected because its so short i couldn't find a safe way to turn the board upside down when it was live to measure the voltage. I just got the Mrs to hold it for me and with the 3 pin ribbon cable connected there is no voltage showing across that cap....

Thanks very much . Getting 50v across C681. I did check this cap and its within tolerance. I popped the cover off the relay and there is voltage there and manually moving the points gets a tiny spark....

1st image has got rotated 90 degrees to the right so my reference to top left is now top right.

The first picture wasnt very good so here is another. I cant seem to meaeasure any voltage anywhere other than the 240v mains input on the small pcb top left. I checked the 470uf cap on there and it is ok. There is no voltage going to the transformer below it on the blue and grey wires.
a bit of a mystery.1 Photo

Thank you very much R_J there there a couple of those caps in that area that were not giving the correct value when tested. 1st of 2 jobs done.
Cheers....

The 5 light grey resistors in the fist photo have been getting very hot and some are not testing properly so its best i replace them first. Please can someone tell me what type of resistors these are?

Kenwood SW900 now dead
I started having problems turning it on some time ago and it took quite a few attempts to get it to turn on and stay on. Now its no longer turning on at all.
I notice its discoloured around some resistors and a 2200 Cap. I replaced the cap but still wont turn on. I would be very grateful if someone could guide me to getting this working again.
Here are some pictures...3 Photos

Yamaha HTR-5630RDS AMP sitting down
I wonder if anyone has any idea what could be causing this to shut down. When you turn it on you hear the relay click and it all lights up. Then about 4-5 seconds later the relay clicks again and it turns off. I have looked carefully at it and checked all connections and it all seems ok.
Anyone have a suggestion?...

Re: Motorcycle flasher mystery.
Just to let everyone know I used led bulbs instead and it cured the misfire when the indicators were used.
I also found slightly tarnished contacts on all the fuses and found there was a diode in the fuse box which after I cleaned its contacts also cured a slight single occasional misfire when at low revs and under load like when slowly powering out of a slow turn (very annoying sometimes).

Re: Motorcycle flasher mystery.
If I put .0.2uf caps between earth and each of the extra bulbs, would that work too?
The side stand and clutch/ neutral switch are safety features. In 1979 I had a serious life changing crash when I left the side stand down after filling with petrol after work. Then rose off to 1st left corner and unable to bank bike to go round corner and hit car coming other way. Lucky to be alive and a year in hospital. So glad of these features now....

Re: Motorcycle flasher mystery.
Very interesting that. Just had the very problem of viewing angle with first set of bulbs that turned up.
They made indicators flash a bit faster and the indicaotor bulbs in these light units fit on the side so from the rear you are seeing the light coming from the side of the bulb and these led bulbs dont emit any light much from side on.

Re: Motorcycle flasher mystery.
Just connected up a couple of old after market led motorcycle indicators in place of the normal 12v 21w incandescent bulbs and it works!
Just ordered a couple of clear Led reverse light bulbs off ebay so hopefully that should sort it.
Just out of interest if I has used a inline diode with a incadesessant bulb would that have worked too?
Cheers stj
