Yea sorry, they are all measuring slightly over by 0.1-0.3v

So the 12v rail measures at 12.3v

    Is that normal?

That's only 2.5% high, i believe the ATX standard is +/-5%, so it's well within that.

This is at no load, i guess?

As i said, it's well within tolerance It's conceivable it might decrease a bit under load, but you'd need one helluva load

So yeah, i wouldn't worry about it

Those things are a pain to recap...

You can fit 10mm ones in some places, but only if you use new parts (because long leads).
But that's not that good a unit. After Recap I'd rather treat it as a 500W one...

The plattform is the same from 350W to 1000W, need to say more?

Yea the long leads bit sounds about right as I spent about 20mins trying to get one of the old caps back in that was near a coil and had to get in at an angle using tweezers. Nightmare

Yea is only posting a mid range system no more than 400w at loads I would hazzard a guess.

                TR2 Thermaltake W0070RU XP550 NP - worth recapping?
                by mrmazda
Only two search hits here, one casually mentioning lower/middle calibre many many moons ago, not terribly helpful, and the other, simply exposure to it, and neither included the RU suffix. Is this a design worth recapping to keep a 10-15 year old PC operational?

I replaced the obviously bad Ltec LZP 2200uF 16V and the obviously bad pair of CapXon GS 18x40 620uF 200V with Nichicon 22x50 UPT. It lights up my digital PS tester with suitable voltages, but it emits a screechy squeal that just drowns out the two 80mm fans. It probably would only very slightly annoy installed in a PC in...

Testing ATX PSUs under load - Does loading the ATX 24 pin also load EPS & PCIE?
                by AJ847.63e
                Hi Folks,

Just wanted to clear up a misunderstanding of mine (or what I expect is one). Isn't the 12V rail from the 24 pin, EPS and PCIE separated? IE if I put a power resistor on the ATX 12V pin that is not going to load, thus tell me if the EPS or PCIE rails are fine?

I was recently watching ArIs from Hardware Busters video on how to properly test ATX PSUs without using 5 figure Croma substations.

The PCB adapter he used breaks out the 12, 5 and 3.3V pins from the 24 pin and gives you banana plugs to connect to. That is a bit useless is it not? Aren't...

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
                by proxneo
                Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

                3 x 470uF 10VDC
                3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
                4 x 47uF 50VDC
                8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
                1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
                5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

                Which...

Samsung QE55Q65B with shorted D001 diodes on panel board: Worth saving or not
                by madyoyo
                Hi

I have a Samsung QE55Q65B with a seemingly common problem: it turn off and back on after a few seconds, (sometimes more, and in rare instances works for hours). D001 on the left side of the panel is very hot. I may be able to remove it with a very fine iron, but i don't have the equipment to re-solder such small parts.

Is there a risk to run the tv without this diodes diodes? And is it worth to pay someone else to replace it. I read many people who ended up with bad lines after trying to remove/replace them, , or the panel failing in another way, so i want to weight...

FSP Epsilon 600W not turning on
                by Satdude
Hi, I have a FSP Epsilon 600W computer PSU which had a bunch of bad caps, so I replaced them thinking they were the problem but the PSU still doesn't work. i don't have 5V standby and shorting the PS_ON to GND also doesn't turn it on. Fuse is ok and I get some inrush when plugging in. Does anyone know about any known faults in this series of PSUs?
