    Re: Dell Dimension PSU...

I don't have an answer for you on the pinout, but if done right it will work fine for you. I now run a Generic PSU on a Dell GX 180. My Dell Mobo uses the standard ATX pinout so most any PSU works for me. You should PM some of the real Tech people on the forum for your answers on this issue. I don't want to see you end up doing it wrong, and turning your PC into magic smoke!

It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

      Re: Dell Dimension PSU...

Humm you maybe able to get(or make) a converter lead not sure...I look into this while back.

I think the only thing Dell did was rearrange what went where.
(which if you plug the wrongly wired psu in it goes BOOM for you)

So you have to compare it to a standard wire diagram for and AT ATX (whichever)

Apple did a similar thing BUT on one of theirs, there is a different Voltage
(non standard) on a pin...So you got to be real careful with apple look alike atx psu's

So beware Apple and some Dells

some links on a quick search ...I know there was a site that went through this and the links are somewhere on these forums...(just couldn't find it now)

      http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/...=dellconverter

      http://www.athenapower.com/power_converter_list.htm

If you know the pin out and are feeling really adventurous
I suppose you could rewire a psu to be one.

heres a 20 pin comparison, he is converting a Dell to atx...you want to go the other way

      http://www.speedystuff.com/stuff/dellps.html

Just make sure of what you got and how you are going to do it...a wrong wire somewhere will probably let the magic smoke out!

What the reall reasons are behind this I dont know but my guess is to keep it in house so you have to go back to them for a replacement (at 3 times the price)

search the net and these forums...I know I have posted the link on that how to make the cable.

Dell G3 15 3500 - Battery bug (black screen and flashing keyboard backlight)
          by HTR-Informatique
          Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

          by jake-b
          good morning all,

i purchased a used dell e6540 laptop used 10 months ago from a vendor on ebay. intel i-7 processor, 16 gb ddr3 memory, 256 gb ssd., mobo la-9413p (rev 1.0 dated 2014-08-04). i've inflicted no damage on it since purchase but its past is unknown. starting 2 weeks ago it began to fail to boot (initially 9 of 10 boot attempts failed, now 10 of 10 fail). there was no new hardware or software added (i was using as a kodi video server). the post process doesn't complete and booting no longer displays the dell logo screen - screen remains black with no backlight. some other...
