    Power Bright 12v 1500 watt power inverter Model# PW1500-12

    Hello, members
I am having problems with this inverter after it has been repaired. What had happened was 120 volts ac was sent through the inverter backwards while being connected to a photovoltaic systems AC (2) 15amp circuit breaker panel. Smoke came out of the inverter. I replaced all the damaged components, capacitor, all fuses and all transistors. I purchased all same components or equals and installed them. I reassembled the inverter back together. The inverter now turns on, and(with the proper AWG cables connected to a deep cycle battery on the + and -terminals the inverter surges while charging any 120 volt AC electronics. While the inverter is in the on position and when the DC is inverted to AC, at best i get only 33 watts max in this surging back-and-forth on-and-off after inverting to 120 AC to charge any electronic devices. DC to AC, not fast enough cycles per second to keep the inverter at 60cycles 120 volts AC. I would really appreciate any advice if i am missing any procedures or i forgot something simple i was suppose to do. Thanks very much for reading about the problem, Mike

There is high possibility the transformer is bad and if not that, than also some feedback components, not only high-power ones you replaced. Post some high-res sharp photos…

part of the chopper still damaged?
does the dc level stay around 170 at the big cap?
what most of these do is boost to 170ish dc and chop to make ac.

Re: Power Bright 12v 1500 watt power inverter Model# PW1500-12

The reading on the main cap is 115.3 volts. It is a CapXon 1500uF 200 volts LP vent 85 C Neg. Could the main cap have been weakened by the 120 volts AC applied backwards at the inverters 120 volt AC output plug? If the cap is like your saying should be @ 170 volts DC. The voltage lacking is a difference of 55 volts. This inverter in addition has four large main transistors. The readings on the four main transistors (there are two pairs each, a pair on the positive side (red)AC, the other two are on the neutral side AC (white). They all read the same, half of the 115.3 volts DC (58 volts DC rounded-up). Is this the chopping effect, then the two voltages are brought back-to-gather for the modified sine wave 120 volts AC? that would be very close to 120V AC were the main cap at 170 volts DC? Thanks very, Mike

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
              by PantherDave
              Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

              Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
