    DELTA DPS-250GB-4

Today I replaced almost all the capacitors in DELTA DPS-250GB-4 (ATX with -5V line) and it came out the problem was in C951 — 0.47uF 50v beneath the transformer bolted to the wall. +5VSB was 9.9v going down to 6.4v, now it is stable at 4.9v

0.47uf i would be temped to try a polypropylene film cap for that.

Nice work, but I have a curious question to ask: are you sure the faulty cap that caused your 5SVB was C951 and/or that it was 50V 0.47 uF??
Reason I ask is because I drew a schematic of the 5VSB circuit of a DPS-300AB-15b, and on that one, C951 is 25V 100 uF.
If possible, could you double-check yours and see if it matches the schematic?

From what I have been seeing, most Delta 5VSB designs are pretty similar to each other... and it seems even a few other PSU manufacturers have copied or closely followed their design. So if there is a 0.47 uF cap that's causing this failure, I'd definitely like to know where it's located so I can correct this in my Delta PSUs that have a 2-transistor 5VSB circuit. If such cap exists, replacing it with a film / polypropylene cap might be a good long(er) term solution to fixing this problem.

100% positive about the cap C951 was originally 0.47uF 50v and 1 was testing after each cap change!

Calculating ESR from tan delta -- tan delta's dependence on capacitance
            by Junkrepair
I'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.

I found this nice little description of the conversion:

            Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
            https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633

It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...
