Re: Your spare PSU Stash
Or high-end Allieds modded with good schottkys and 13009s or better.
Seriously,Allied seems to be the high end line of Deer(or at least was until 2012),being on par with older Macrons, while L&C is the bottom of the barrel line and original Deers (2000/2001 ones and DR-A300ATX with 2003 chip) in the middle line.Main rig:
Gigabyte B75M-D3H
Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
16GB DDR3-1600
Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
Delux MG760 case

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
I admit,I would use a modded Deer PSU.

Also worth mentioning is TELVM's recapped Tuallin LC-B350ATX,which seems to be the same as an Allied AL-A300ATX (I've seen one here). 2003 chip as opposed to yours which has the 2005Z chip.
If I can get my JNC LC-B300ATX to work (untested to see if it goeswhen plugged in) I'll make sure to beef it up,since it's the same platform TELVM worked with - Y-B200ATX v2.6/X-B2002ATX v2.3
Here's a list of what I plan to do in case it works:
Code:-add PI coils on the secondary -add common choke on the primary (need to check the orientation of the coil on the board) -replace diode bracket with SBL2040CT - I don't have any 60v-100v VRRM schottky, only 40 and 45v,but I've heard reports of PSUs working fine with 45v VRRM 12v schottkies -SBL3040PT for 5v - plenty, since I plan using it with an ASUS A7V8X board) -probably another SBL3040PT for 3.3v -better fan - currently has an "Colorful" brand fan

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
It is easy to work on those platforms. Yes, I have experienced too some traces lifting but this can be fixed quite easily.
Yesterday I picked a PC case from the street. Inside there were just 2 psus with their fans removed. 1 is a DELTA that I am planning to recap/repair and the other is 8460BTX similar with the one that I modded but more gutless. I will post photos soon!Comment

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
And I was the one that thought 2005Z based Deers were almost indestructible. What did fail in that PSU?
As for the T&P-Meiji,take the wires. I see they're 16 or 18AWG.Main rig:

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
Maybe the 5vsb critical cap went bad and the voltage skyrocketed. Can't say for sure though.Comment

by objecttothisI had a desktop form factor mini-server die on me a few weeks ago. Through my initial diagnostics, I was convinced it was the motherboard because when I shorted the Green wire on the ATX connecter, the multimeter gave me all the correct voltages on the various pins of the ATX connector and 5VSTB was also correct. To my surprise the replacement motherboard wouldn't turn on with the case power button either. I threw in another PSU and it turned on right away. This is an 80 Plus EVGA 430W PSU with PN:100-W1-0430. I pulled the cover off and don't see any immediately obvious blown caps or scorch...

It's been a while since I've run into this before, so I could use a little help. The attached image is a close-up of a solid white screen. What I'm seeing is red-green-blue-black-red-green-blue instead of red-green-bue-red-green-blue.
I haven't cracked into the thing yet, but before I do, has anyone encountered anything like this before? If so, what was the solution? T-Con? Ribbon connections? Something else?1 Photo -
by TopcatIt's been a LOOOONG time since I've done one of these.... I've had the case for years, its just been sitting in my office with crap stacked on top of it. It has a Micronics 486 motherboard in it with a DX4-100 CPU.... I was never a 486 enthusiast, I had no intentions of doing a build with it....I only kept it for the case....which someone dropped off for recycling years ago.
Anyway, I recently stumbled upon a Supermicro P6DKF AT motherboard and tested it in 'the oven'. I remember seeing one (or one similar) back in the 90's before eATX was a twinkle in anyone's eyes and wondering...-

by shovenoseAlright folks, today I present my latest "build", consisting of mostly spare parts with a few things off eBay.
Parts List and Pricing
CPU: 3/0GHz 4C/4T Intel Core i5-7400. Nothing exciting here, got it off eBay for $80.
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4-2400. Had it floating around. Free.
Motherboard: Gigabyte B250M-Gaming 3. Because I had it floating around and the model number contains gaming so it must be better, right? Free.
