    T3D 21 - zener diode?

    Hi,
I'm looking at the power source module of my Panasonic plasma TV TX-P42ST50. The TV goes into suspended state almost immediately and keeps flashing 6 times.
That zener diode is marked on the board with the diode sign (D204), that much I know. It seems to be open completely in both directions and its legs seem dark, as if it suffered some heat.
I'm having trouble finding a replacement. Does 21 stand for 21V?
The only other clue I have it is connected across 2 of the legs of a transformer (primary side).
Any idea how to find a replacement?
    Thanks

I went ahead, bought 22V 5W zener, replaced it and the TV doesn't even try to power on now. I removed it again and we're back to what it was (6 led flushes and turns off). So burnt zener (or none) seems to work better.

Not seeing any markings of the diode, I think it is something like a 1.5KE200CA which is a BIdirectional TVS protection diode. It being open on both ends, this is correct and not a failure. Basically 2 diodes opposing each other in one package.
If that diode sits across the primary it’s not 21V. Hard to tell with no pictures.

Oh that would make sense, learning something new every day. It seems I got to know about components just enough to cause problems :-).
Anyhow, the markings are in the topic name: T3D 21 (with the digit 1 underscored if that makes any difference). The original diode has dark discoloration on its legs, as if it suffered some heat.
I measured the voltage between those 2 transformer legs and my meter shows some 800~900V AC, but it only has 750V range, so not sure how reliable that is (I should've measure that before I ordered that zener diode). That value doesn't make much sense to me, as I tried to follow the circuit visually and it seems the transformer is fed almost directly from a bridge rectifier that produces 330V DC (I measured). All in all, more questions than answers.
Still it seems that TVS diode is not the culprit here, so I might as well put it back there.
        Thanks

??? Huh? 800 to 900VAC? I don’t think so. Not sure what’s going on with your DMM.

            TV backlight zener diode
            by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm repairing an LG TV backlight and I noticed some strange behavior when I touching the backlight strip with a missing Zener diode.

So I replaced the leds on the strips and they seemingly working fine, but soon as I touch the strip which has a missing Zener diode the whole backlight turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

Is this caused by the missing diode? If so what kind of zener diode should I use to replace it?.

The led strips has 9 6V leds.

            NTE Electronics “NTE5251K” Zener Diode 9.1V @ 50W Do-5.5% Want to build a 9.1 output from a 9.6 lipo4 battery pack
            by sam_sam_sam
I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...

What zener diode might fix the sound on Maestro Mayhem gaming chair?
            by nev1001
Hi, I'm looking for a bit of help trying to fix the audio unit from a Maestro Mayhem 4.1 gaming chair please.

The chair has a few speakers and vibration motors. All was well, for a while, but now the sound is gone.

It may be significant that I discovered my son was powering it with a 19V laptop charger when it should run on 12V - it did fully work, for bit.

I think an issue could be a zener diode (or capacitor) which has shorted out.

The board's bluetooth input still works, the vibration motors are working, so is the line out socket but not the...

Element 32 inches tv (ELEFW328B) Unknown component: Diode or zener?
            by Vincenzo2
My Element 32 inches tv (ELEFW328B) lost it's backlight (confirmed with a flashlight test) and the connector on the PCB (it has one board that has a processor chip, switch mode power supply, and backlight circuit) that has the two wires that go to the backlight LED strips has a very low voltage (28-29 volts) when turned ON, in my opinion.

Started testing components and found an SMD diode or zener that is shorted (even zero fusing resistors read a few tens of milliohms, while this thing reads zero).

I put some pictures here to show that it is labeled "M7"....

Corsair RM1000e - Help identify 5VSB Zener diode
            by hobostove
Hey there guys. I've got a Corsair power supply that's come across my bench dead. I usually don't mess with power supplies, but it's a slow week so I'm giving it a whirl.

Taking it apart I heard a screw rattling around inside, and when I got it apart I found a couple blown components near what I think is the 5VSB area.

There's a 22ohm resistor that's melted and open, but it still has the bands.

The other part is a zener diode and it's top went to jesus, so I can't read the marking.

It looks like the diode connects the source and drain of a TNY284...
