    Electrical arching in Dell PA-4E

So I bought a new dock with a genuine Dell PA-4E.

It powers everything no problem but it's making some odd noises, a sort of scratching/arching.

Is this something to worry about? It's not loud, I can only just hear it from where I am sitting.

    Cheers

Odd that it would do that given that the 4Es are relatively new adapters... Odd unless you consider that whoever made these may have sourced off brand caps... Sounds like one of the caps has dried up... I would definately open it up and have a look inside.

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Seems okay now, when it warmed up the noise stopped. It was still a bit cold as it had not long been posted, there was no condensation on the outside but maybe there was some inside.

      Cheers!

Arching sound is back. Thing still puts out power fine. Is there any chance there is electrical glue that is shorting or something?

Crack that thing open and post pics.

Use a dremel tool with a cutting disc plus a wade flat tip screwdriver. Make sure not to cut too deep or else you might inadvertently damage parts inside.
