I think it's an NTC thermistor for inrush current protection, like these:

That is correct, as you can see one side is connected to the + of the filter cap, so it is burnt due to shorts in the circuit some where, or just failed due to under rated.

Just as with fuses, i wouldn't jump straight to replacing it, before checking for damages "downstream". If something went wrong and toasted the NTC, if you just solder in a new one and turn the PSU on again, there's a certain chance that, whatever the initial issue was, it might cause further damage.

            Just advising caution, that's all

Corsair CX750M [Model 75-002019] - burned output toroid inductor
                by momaka
Looks like I may need a little help from the PSU experts (or anyone really! ) I have a Corsair CX750M (Model 75-002019) that I picked up for free about 4 years ago. This is the PSU:

So here’s what’s strange about this one: it appears to work normally (normal output voltages) and any PC is stable with it. However, after a while (typically 10-20 minutes, but time can vary depending on the load), there is a sweetish smell of burned magnet wire insulation emanating from the PSU. Upon opening the PSU after this happened (many times), I was able to confirm...

I've bought a broken Corsair PSU for having some fixing time........(10€ investment)(in bellow image the capacitor is already changed)

Once connected to the serial bulb, nothing happens. So initial assumption is that at least the fuse is gone.

Once opened for visual inspection........I see the main capacitor blown and I start imagine the worst with the Mosfets and other components.

Taken the PCB out and start analysing I confirm that the 12A Fuse is gone, but nothing more till the diode rectifier (Corsair has put...

Corsair RM850x Synchronous ATX PSU - need help diagnosing
                by W1ngl3t
                Hi all,

I have a relatively new (from 2018) Corsair RM850x PSU that refuses to turn on.
The 5v standby rail is working fine, but when I try to turn it on it shuts itself off in a few milliseconds.
There are no obvious shorts to be found and this is what I can see with my oscilloscope:
                - 3.3v and 5v hold their intended voltages fine for a few millisecond
                - the 12v rail goes to 12v on startup and then goes into decline
                - when the 3.3v and 5v rails are switched off the 12v rail momentarily increases a bit (probably perfectly normal)
                - as per...

Corsair CX500 ATX PSU|Works under some/no load, but not in motherboard
                by parakeet
                Hello.

I'm trying to fix a Corsair CX500 ATX Power supply. It works fine with no load or with a couple of devices connected but turns on for only 0.5s in the motherboard. I've tested the motherboard with a different, lower wattage rating PSU and it works fine, so I know that isn't the issue.

3 Different ways I've tested it:

                1. Switch on with no load: All voltages good except -12v (-10.8)
                2. Switch on with CD drive and HDD connected: All voltages good, peripherals working
                3. Switch on with 24 Pin connected to motherboard: Turns on, then off after...

Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450Pro4 mobo wont start
                by Ibod
HI I have a PC using a Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450 Pro4 mother board that won't power on after a shutdown (replaced a dead drive in a raid array) Not the boot drive.

With most things unplugged, including the 24 pin ATX connector, but not the ATX12v to cpu, I have +5.01V on the +5vsb pin 9 from the PSU. When I plug the 24 pin back in to the mobo, the +5vsb fluctuates between 1.1v & 1.9v.

Not sure where to go from here ?

Is the PSU at fault or is the mobo causing the problem

Look forward to any help :-)
