One day the charger just stopped working. There was no output voltage, no sign of life.
Yesterday I managed to open it and find out what's wrong. The output diode failed shorted:

The good news is that the psu protected itself from blowing, the short circuit protection worked.
I used a diode from the 5vsb output of a dead gutless wonder psu and the charger now works. The replacement diode is SB240, good for 2A maximum output current.
