I have been watching the PSU market & digging into gory, detailed torture tests on PSU's as I often do.
I have found this amazing PSu by SeaSonic: SeaSonic Platinum 660XP2 - Johnny Guru Review (Teardown+Torture Test)
It's on beauty of a PSU in just about every aspect, many review websites are either referring to it, or just about, as the best PSU on the market /w perfect power.
Using all Chemi-Con and Rubycon electrolytics /w Enesol polymers.
One problem though.....
IT HAS COIL WHINE!!!
Seriously?
Granted, no product is ever perfect, doesn't happen. I have looked for decades... to no avail.
But seriously, coil whine.... in a PSU???

You'll see that there are a lot of units that buyers are receiving with this problem. Supposedly they fixed it in a 2nd revision a few months back, but according to new reviews, that's not the case. Assuming they know what they're talking about of course.
What are the thoughts on this situation? What causes coil whine, and is it really that, or is it capacitors doing it?
Could it be those Enesol polymers that no one has seen die on here, but some members thoroughly dislike?
Anyone used this PSU?
On a side note....
I'd like to go with a smaller wattage unit for this system, for efficiency sake so it's as close to the 40% minimum power consumption as I can. But I really, really, really.... X1,000 hate the idea of a "fanless psu". It scares the bejeebers out of me!
PSU's evacuate a fair amount of heat from traditional top mounted systems. It just naturally collects there. That and component life reduction from the higher heat of the internal components.
Thoughts, arguments, real world application & use of fanless PSU's in systems that aren't exactly "cool as a cucumber" so to speak??
