IBM AA20790 Power Supply Ham Conversion

    Hi all,
A client sent me a pair of these things to convert for ham radio PSU's.

They are hot swap type units. No on/off switch, they turn on when plugged into their racks.

Had no idea how to turn them on.
There is zero information on the net about this.

    Did it the hard way.

Anyhow, figured it out and prepared this little article.
These things could become very popular.

Best part is, the units are cheap.
Most can be had for about$20 each.

They work good. Got a solid 14 amps out of the things at 12 volts.

Let me know what you think.

Congratulations on your conversion. Server power supplies are usually very well built and are made to run 24-7 for years so they should serve you well. Like you discovered, the hard part is figuring out the pin-out as they do not use a standard like PC's ATX. Did you open one up to see what was inside?
