Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Hey man, calm down.
Answering to the best of my ability. There's no exact answer.
You asked
"Any one know if I can use UCC LZA caps for the 3300 16v caps which uses a KM and FM cap before and after the pi coil."
and I told you it was, imho, acceptable to be used. But since I don't have actual experience with this power supply and its design, I had reservations which I explained.
The ESR is reasonable for capacitors for power supplies, the ripple might be too low but I don't know how high is the ripple in regular use.
The capacitors in the power supply may only be subjected to 500-1000 mA of ripple, in which case it won't matter that LZA only has 2350mA ripple compared to the FM's 3500mA+.
Use LZA, use FM, use FR ... they'll all work, but nobody can tell you they'll work perfectly unless they personally repaired that power supply.

either I can't seem to write in a way that people can understand me or people around me just don't read or are just fucking stupid.
CTC FM series cap.
*RAGE!*
FUCK IT! PANNY FR's ARE GOING THE FUCK IN! IF I HAVE TO RUN WIRE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BOARD, SOLDER AND HEAT SHRINK THAT BITCH TO MAKE IT WORK! I WILL! FUCK THIS SHIT!
IT'S SO HARD TO GET A GOD DAMN STRAIGHT ANSWER AROUND HERE!
I JUST WANT MY PSU AND THE OTHER TWO PSU's AND THE HATACHI TV FIXED, AND I'M SORRY, IF I'M SUCH A FUCKING NOOB AROUND HERE. I'M TRYING AND IF PEOPLE JUST DON'T TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO OR WHERE TO LOOK, HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO FIX ANYTHING!?!?!?! I MIGHT AS WELL GO TO EE SCHOOL!
FUCK IT!

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Samxon RS have similar ESR and I find them pretty much suitabe into every PSU, hardly ever made problems for me. On the other side, there are documented cases of caps with slightly lower ESR than of FM/FR making supply oscillate. For that reason and in regards of „better safe than sorry“, I never use them personally…Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
You can find all Panasonic datasheets (and other manufacturers/brands) here:
ftp://helpedia.com/pub/temp/datashee...ors/Panasonic/
It's long overdue for some organizing at that url, but it should do for now. Working on getting updated catalogues for everything there, but doing it in my free time. Copy it all if you want, they're not secret or anything like that.
LZA seems acceptable for a power supply, what seems to be lacking is high ripple capability.. only 2350mA compared to 3500+ at FM/FR series or other manufacturers. But they're also smaller, at only 25mm or so in height, compared to 35mm for Panasonic.
I'm not sure how much this lower ripple capability is a factor in selecting the capacitor, if the power supply is well designed it the capacitor may never see this much ripple.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
SO I seem to have made an error, I have two different series, KM and FM caps. Since I have the KM datasheet now I need FM datasheet and no not panny sheets, I need the CTC one, or if someone knows off hand what I should replace FM caps with?
Any one know if I can use UCC LZA caps for the 3300 16v caps which uses a KM and FM cap before and after the pi coil.

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
But I thought you only needed 2 pieces for this PSU?
Only other manufacturer besides Teapo (I think the Teapo SC is pretty reliable at the higher values) is PCE TUL series:

Cause he said he had them on special order. Who knows but him? Maybe Man Yue sold 95000 of them to some company and he took 5000?
That guy got only like 30 pcs left, that won't save me for more than a couple weeks, not mentioning the price would be insane per piece.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Why do you say supposedly for the RS? I've ordered these before from Joe and in fact I'm using them right now in my PSU.
Why not just pay the $8 for these:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
I asked for the NCC KYA and Pan FK.
Joe had them supposedly made as Samxon RS. Now this is not Jap company, but I'd dare to say one of the -very- few non-japan quality makers.
I am sure others exist as well. I can't tell where but I am sure I have seen some 3300uF cap even from quality maker in some PSUs. If you'll happen to know such PSU and get pics, I can show them they're lying and such caps exist from them and we have picsLeave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
16v 3300uF - I don't think there were any custom 10mm sizes ever made from any of the Jap manufacturers... What you should do is bug Digikey (Because Digikey seems to carry the most UCC stock) for a custom size KZH series for that cap.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
I have been using 3300 uF everywhere and often 2200 uF is not enough.
That's why I am trying to find the PN and get some distributor order themI don't see why the manufacturer would make them for PSU makers and not for distributor?

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
I've been using the 10mm 16V 2200uF and 6.3V 3300uF Panasonic FK for a while now.
UCC also has these, but they're custom sizes and I've never seen them for sale through any trusted distributor.
The Panasonic FK are stocked in the UK warehouse, and the US warehouse gets a small quantity shipped every few months, so I don't have to pay anything extra for them which is nice.
Those two new series KYA and LZA are unremarkable. FK is better rated than both of them.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Yeah, could be, I asked Panasonic for PN of possible 3300 uF/16 V D10 too. I think the NCCs win it for me, at least 6,3 V wise.
I just asked at Digi-Key whether they can get some quotes for those 6,3V versions…Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Panny FK also has a 6.3V 3300uF (and 16V 2200uF) in 10mm dia. I often use them on 5v and 3.3v rails where I can't squeeze a 12.5mm cap in.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Sorry to polute this further, but when we startedAs for 6,3V D10 caps, I have just been informed through one of NCC's distributors there are new very nice lines on market, the KYA and LZA. Both have 3300 uF/6,3 V caps in D10x25 mm casing!! More or less same specs as Samxon RS while the KYA having even better lifetime.
I will try to push through somebody to have them made in D10x30 (or even D10x35 is fine I think) for 16 VLeave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
I'm thinking of getting this to replace the 16v caps, then ordering the RS from topcat.
http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...1536-ND/589277
It's a tad bit fatter, but if I raise it up and throw some heat-shrink on it, I think it will be ok.
I also got a FSP psu with 16v capxon KF D10 H35 cap. It's a bit more forgiving on space though, so I shouldn't have a problem fitting it in there.Last edited by Mad_Professor; 01-02-2013, 12:57 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
I wonder if UCC would do a custom KZx or KY series production run of these caps in 10mm...
Otherwise, there is no other series with these caps other than Teapo SC in 10mm.Leave a comment:

Re: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT
Oh, I didn't notice that D10 there, and I was also confused a bit because KY is also only 12.5mm.
I feel your pain about too few capacitors in D10 form at such high capacity values.Leave a comment:

by momakaRemember this pile of junk electronics I got last year?
Well, that's where this Enermax Liberty ECO 400 Watt PSU came from. Like I mentioned, it had cut cables and many bulged caps on the DC output side. I stripped a few cables and did a quick temporary recap with whatever junk (but still reading OK) caps I could find, then performed a basic power test – the PSU passed.
Thus, I knew I'd eventually go around to repairing it. One year later and we're here.
First shown is the label below, so anyone reading can see what PSU we're dealing with here.

by eigmaA few weeks ago my computer power supply (Enermax Tomahawk ETK450AWT) stopped working. Of course this led me down a reverse engineering and circuit debugging rabbit hole ;-) I also learned about capacitor Equivalent series resistance along the way, and wrote an article about it all. Here are some sneak peeks:

i have a older powersupply from XFX that makes this wierd electronic ticking /clicking noise. Its not the fan thats making the sound. See video below. Is anyone familiar with what component this sound can come from?

by LeKowalskyHi,
I'm novice in smps repairs and lurker here also in addition to my preparation I have read Jestine Yong's Troubleshooting & Repairing Switch Mode Power Supplies many times and I cautiously proceeded in small steps a time.
What's on the table?
Enermax Platimax 1500W (EPM1500EGT)
Symptom
A fault is a little tricky here. When plugged into the wall for a first time (i.e. after proper discharge) PSU starts on power button (PS_ON) as expected, runs smoothly with all the voltages in tolerance also shows quite stable operation... -
by XoratHello there,
i got this power supply from Enermax, that was Dead until i removed that one cap. It is connected to 12 V and ground and it was completly shorting. Now my question would be, do i need to replace it and if, how do i get the value of it ?
Without the cap it turns on and runs just fine (stress tested for about 2 h with mainboard, cpu and gpu).
