Re: Premier LC-B300ATX
Those are Deer powersupplies
You really should not use them, they are very poorly built; when they do fail they usually catch fire or send AC into the computer, blowing everything inside the computer beyond recognition...
They are banned by some safety agencies for sale in some countries, like Finland for example..."The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who is doing it." -
Re: Premier LC-B300ATX
Well, have a 15 month old LC-6550 laying on my desk, exact the very same cap blown..
All in all i think it isn`t that bad build, there are all safety caps installed, big rectifier diodes on secondary. But ok, i doubth that it can continiousely deliver the stated 550w ;-)
The i/p caps are rather small with only 680uf, which will give only about 340uf for 220v operation. this is quite poor for that wattage.
May be it is a little better build than the others. As i having seen similar faulths on some Seasonic psu`s which are working fine after recap, i think a new good cap will do it untill the rest of the psu has blown the magic smoke out. Thi psu isn't that stressed, it has to power only an Athlon 64 3000 and a gf6600gt.
Edit: after a closer look i have to say that my lc-6550 is far more decent build than those in the pic`s here.
So i think that either those from you are l&C and the other is LC-Power which could be different manufacturer. May be there is an issu with simple switcher or theLast edited by gonzo0815; 06-26-2006, 05:06 PM.Comment

Re: Premier LC-B300ATX
those PSUs look very familiar to me. same input caps. on the secondary sie, mine mostly are JEE, suscon, rulycon, and capxon. that chip is also custom, "2003.." something.
one i revived by replacing almost all componen except the main transformer. big resistor on the secondary side is best to be replaced by 5w or 10w type.
the beer can caps also the culprit for some instability, i've done some experiments (replacing them with teapo LXK).days are so short when you actually do something..Comment

Re: Premier LC-B300ATX
one have to replace all the tiny caps too if he want to really reuse that psu. i can't help not to use it, i sold a lot of p3 systems with such psu. with $50 for the sistem (no monitor) it can't be any cheaper.days are so short when you actually do something..Comment

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by flibidyI have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.
The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.
Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.
