    Antec Cap sizing

I hate to drag this back from 2 years ago, but I'm on the hunt for a 10mm diameter 4700uF capacitor (2 actually for my Antec power supply) and Google popped up this thread LOL

Currently it's a 30mm tall can, but I have about 45mm of space.

    Any help is appreciated!!

      Doward...

I have re-capped an Antec SP-450... If you want a pretty good idea of what I used, have a look at this thread, page 3 specifically:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11693

Good 10mm 4700uF caps are nonexistant. Even 10mm 3300uF caps are not common... The only manufacturers that make a reliable 10mm 3300uF cap are Panasonic, UCC, and Samxon...

If the circuit is only 6.3V, you can use this cap:
      http://www.newark.com/panasonic/eeuf...-3v/dp/32R8958

It's from Panasonic's FK series... It's out of stock right now, but it is often re-stocked in small quantities. It has an ESR of 0.025 and a ripple rating of 2140.

For higher voltages, you are stuck with either Samxon or UCC. The owner of this site keeps the 10V and 16V Samxon RS series stocked:
      https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=57
      https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=56

The only other series I am aware of suitable for this application is UCC KZH, which is not sold to the public to my knowledge, but is available at a certain auction site notorious for peddling cheap Chinese goods.

        Re: Antec Cap sizing

10mm 4700uF caps don't exist. The 4700uF rating is bogus. Use https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=57 to replace them.

EDIT: Looks like mockingbird beat me to it.

            Re: Antec Cap sizing

There's plenty of 3300uf 6.3v caps in a 10mm can but none are appropriate for power supplies. The ESR is too low. UCC KY 2700uf 6.3v 10x30 was the largest I could find that will work in a supply and not break the bank.

huh? Panny FK and Samxon RS are just fine. Remember, a larger can generally means lower ESR

Perhaps you meant Panasonic FL which are a bit low ESR for supplies. Panasonic FK through hole are made of unobtainum.

What are you talking about? I buy through hole Panasonic FK from Newark all the time... It's true it's out of stock at the moment, but they get a small quantity every month or so from their UK warehouse. You just have to snatch them up quickly.

Antec Smart Power SL300S capacitor replacement.

                    Hello,

I'm currentlly in the process of trying my first power supply repair (really my first soldering project) and have some questions with regard to which capacitors to replace the bad ones.

The power supply is an Antec Smart Power SL300S ATX12V 300 watt.

I have successfully desoldered every capacitor from the board without destroying anything (I think) and I am currently in the process of choosing which caps to order. This is where I'd like a little community wisdom.

Now the capacitors inside are mostly Fuhjyyus (a forum favorite) with 1...

Can I replace KME cap with Samxon GF cap?
                    by chth96
                    Hello.
I have 29inch LG CRT TV,And Yesterday,Whenever I connect AC power cord to power outlet without switch on, I heard a sound like white noise, And When I switched on this CRT TV, It sometime displayed correctly But usually It won't last more than 20 minute and The screen begin to dark and It finally did not display at all for hours..
Today,I dismantled its plastic case and discharged the biggest capacitor(400wv 470uf) which still holds 250 voltage, and I finally detached PCB from cathode-ray tube.
I measured ESR value of most of caps in PCB with MESR-100 and I found that KME(25v...

                    4700uF 6.3v and 3300uF 16v in a 10mm Diameter
                    by Topcat
Where can I get them these days? My usual sources are a no go in a 10mm, 12.5mm is too big. I'm recapping an old Antec rackmount PSU for a client (SmartPower SP2-450SXR) with a bunch of spooged Fuhjyyu crap caps, and he's insisting it be repaired....which is fine by me, I make more on it that way.....but I need to find these illusive caps....it's been a long time since I've needed these values....and now I can't find them. Odds are I could get away with 3300uf in place of the 4700uF, I've done it before...but if there's a source for them in 10mm, I'll try to stay original.

Antec Earthwatts EA-380 smd element type/value
                    by sirpsychol
While recaping Antec Earthwatts EA-380 I've broke one side of unknown smd element, it have no print, it's flatter and darker than smd capacitors on this board, shaped more like resistor but it's not resistor ofc. Unfortunetly the printed description was under it and element was glued to the board so I cant read/tell the letter before element number too. Have anyone any idea what it is? Maybe is there any diagram of this PSU?
