Just thinking about this one gives me a headache!

I opened up an AT PSU today. I could tell from the label that this puzzle wouldn't be easy to solve. I didn't know the worst of it.

Here is the inside of the supply. Note the "DANGER High Voltage" sticker on the transformer and the "Yen" design of the heatsinks. Also note the caps. Oh, the caps.

With the exception of a DON or two, all of them are marked as Rubycons. Yep, the big cans with the Y vents? Rubycon. The weird 90* vent on the output? Rubycon. The light blue one by the out-wiring that actually has a K vent (that you can't see)? Yep, Rubycon. (The DON is light blue, too.)

So I ask, what the heck is this?!
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.

Ah, the damn edit limit got me again.

Just like to say that I linked to the images rather than hosting them because I didn't reckon they were crucial, but I'll upload them here too.

Looks like late-80s vintage - maybe Thai or Indian. The heatsinks aren't too bad - extruded aluminium. Try a recap - it should be OK for about 150W.

        likely some sort of fakes.

Nope! However, the "Rubycon" is rather sloppily done. Further proof.

This one came out of a K6-2 AT system, socket 7. The PSU seems to be reused though, since all the others from this batch of ATs have been Austins (L&C). It has the specs (486 DX-33, 80MB HD, 8 MB RAM) written on it from its previous application, so late '80s or early '90s would be about right.
