    A screwy PS

I just fired up my back-up VP6. It runs fine, but the PS is loud. I checked and the fan is blowing like crazy. So...I pull it apart and the PS says Rhycom. Its a "450W switching power supply". hahahahaha

Anyway....the case is fairly decent. It holds everything. So..I have another PS on the way.

Anyway....I opened it up and guess what?!?!?!?!?! Yep...you guessed it. Bulging caps. When the new one arrives and I get this one replaced, I'll pull it apart and look at it more closely.

Has anyone run across one?? I wouldn't mind doing a little R&R and have it as a standby....if its worth it.

I've got a couple Antecs here with bloated caps, a powmax that self-incinerated, and a 6 year old sparkle that finally gave up on me...... Damnit, I need to buy some new PSU's myself...

I did read you have Zippy/Emacs in your servers and do realize your in the know, but buildtoorderservers.com has the HP-2 6460P w/o thermal controlled fan for $85. eWiz.com has quite a few Enhance units for cheap. The ENS-0555G is $79, plus many lower wattage units.

Rhycom is total POS, they're powmax. I see them at a local monthly computer swap meet.

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

How to read PCB symbol for 6 pin push-pull switch?
          by LearningToRepair
          Hi!

I am a bit confused how to read PCB markings for 6 pin push pull switch. I had problem with my 6 pin push-pull switch on my UT58A multimeter. It did not lock properly. So I decided to replace it. I forgot the orientation of original button. And now I need some help with understanding PCB.

I learned from google how to identify orientation of push-pull button:

But I am a bit confused which way PCB expects it. I expected that PCB would have some kind on intent marked on it. But mine has 3 marked instead. I attached the photo of it where I marked...

Toshiba TV bad panel half screen dark - pull tabs or not?
          by ashyt16
Hi fellas, I have a Toshiba 50u6863db (vestel crap) here belonging to a family member.
The TV was given me to repair (possibly) as it had developed a blank screen, just back lights and sound.

Upon further investigation it turned out one of her cats had sprayed on the screen as I could see it on the edge of the panel and tabs and it stank. Looks like it probably shorted the circuitry. I cleaned it up and still the same.

I initially suspected Tcon board as none of the test points were showing correct voltages. Tried removing one LVDS cable at a time, same result....

DPA 50S common emitter push-pull schematic
          by kehall
          Hi

I've come across a few emitter-follower/common collector push-pull power amp circuits where NPN / PNP are collector-connected to +ve and -ve respectively, but am working on a repair of a Deltec Precision Audio DPA 50S from circa 1987 where the PNP / NPN power transistors are connected the opposite way (PNP and NPN emitter to +ve and -ve respectively).

The driving circuitry is therefore a bit more complex than I'm used to seeing and it's giving me a brain-block without any schematic to look at... Does anyone have any information that could be of help please?...
