    Is battery charger ok......

I am helping my neighbor replace/fix his kids electric vehicle. The problem, the battery is old and has been used for a few years. He tried charging the battery for an entire 24hrs but the battery did not charge up. We assumed it was the battery just being old . I found on ebay a place to get new batteries but before i buy them i wanted to measure the voltage coming out of the charger to before spending $60 on two new 6V/14AH batteries.

Enclosed are pics of the battery and charger.

I thikn the two batteries are actually in series when they are running the electric vehicle.

WHen i plug in the charger (see enclosed pic) and i measure between pins 1 and 3 i see ~ 12V. However, i dont see a voltage on any other pins. I can remeasure if you want.

any thoughts? do you think the charger is ok?

ok so i think i figured it out.........i am enclosing a pic of the two batteries in series and how that relates to the charger pic i previously posted.

    It makes sense now.

        Re: Is battery charger ok......

You have to figure out which pins on the charging plug connect to your series-connected batteries. To charge 2 series 6 volt batteries, the charger needs to put out at least 13 to 14 volts. Open circuit the charger may even read 15v. If not, the charger is bad.

First, measure the actual voltage on each battery separately, because one of them (or both) may be shorted. A shorted cell in a battery will show up as a an unusually low voltage (even when discharged). For example, a faulty 6v battery may show 3.5 volts. Even if one battery is faulty, you should replace them both together.
        Is it plugged in?

how to prevent a connected charger from draining battery when not charging?
          by flat-earther
I have an RC radio handset(Taranis QX7) which doesn't have internal battery charger which means I had to remove the battery every time I needed to charge it.
So to improve it, I added a 15W USB-C charger board(link) inside and soldered it to the same connector on the PCB where the battery plugs into, great, now I can simply charge it with a USB-C cable.

but the problem I found is that after the radio sat for two weeks without being used the 2S 18650 battery that I'm using was at 4.2V!
So the battery is backfeeding the charger and being drained.

          How can I prevent...

Bauer tool battery pack charging with a HERCULES charger modification
          by sam_sam_sam
The Bauer power tool battery charger just has to many issues with the charger over heating because I several HERCULES Hercules battery chargers that are 3 amp charge and because they have gone on quite a few times over the years before they came out with the fan cooling battery charger I going to modify one so I can charge Bauer battery packs faster than the crape battery charger that they have

Here is how this modification is going to be done I taking a 1.5 amp hour battery enclosure and gutting it removing the battery cells and replacing some Ryobi 1.5 amp hour battery pack that...

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery
          by sam_sam_sam
I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

Milwaukee M18 HD12.0 (12 amp hour battery pack) unbalanced failure charger refusing
          by sam_sam_sam
I have two Milwaukee 12 amp hours battery packs that have an issue with battery cells very unbalanced these are probably over 4 years old and been heavily used in the past but now get occasionally used heavily and when I went to use the grinder tool the battery lost battery battery power very quickly so I decided to open it up and found some battery cells voltage from 3.6 to 4.1 no wonder the battery charger was not fully charging them 3 out of 4 LEDs were on meaning that it was only 75% charged

So I have put them on the battery testing machine to drain each battery cell down to...
