Here is a Powerman model IP-P350DQ3-2 rated at 350 watts. It has the 80 PLUS sticker, and has APFC. The 5vsb circuit uses a TNY276 chip - a vast improvement over the two transistor design. It uses the CM6800 chip for PWM and APFC. It has TWO mains capacitors in parallel, each OST 150 uF at 400 volts. As can be seen from the pictures, one has "blown its top". The fuse is not blown, and so far I have not found any shorted silicon. The layout looks just like a Fortron. Even the transformers have DASH written on them. I wonder if the OEM is Fortron?

Re: The Powerman cometh.......without power!
I recall reading somewhere that Inwin, for their Powerman brand, had stopped using FSP and changed to building the brand inhousebetter to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubtComment

Re: The Powerman cometh.......without power!
I just removed the one bad capacitor and powered up the psu. The Powerman now delivers power. Only using one HDD and one CDROM as a load. Before putting this psu back in service, I will need to replace the blown capacitor.
Looks like every capacitor in this thing is OST.Old proverb say.........If you shoot at nothing, you will hit nothing (George Henry 10-14-11)Comment

Re: The Powerman cometh.......without power!
At work, we use 400W In Win Power Man IP-S400CQ2-0 PSUs for both repairs and new builds. I load tested one and it did 500W (although the ripple was a bit high on the 5vsb). The ones we use are exactly like the one pictured below. I'm pretty sure that all new Power Man PSUs are made by In Win, not FSP. You can tell because there are no "SPI" markings and the heat sinks actually have fins (not like new FSP Builds).

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

by socketaI read through this thread, and just want to confirm what i should do.
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=24N60C3.
This person's fault was exactly the same as mine, even down to the power strip and with the muffled popping sound.
I suspect that my problem started with an old power strip, of which a computer and a 2000W heater were plugged into...
I noticed melting and heat where the heater was plugged in, so i plugged the heater directly into a double wall socket, but still noticed the muffled pop sound when i turned on the computer, and... -
by GnatGoSplatAntec BP500U PSU fried in my wife's gaming PC. I smelled something unpleasant last night, so I had a hunch something might be amiss. Woke up this morning to a popped breaker and immediately assumed the APFC cap must have blown. I last fixed it sometime in 2011, there's a thread about it here someplace. APFC and secondary caps that time. Replaced them with Panasonic caps. 10+yrs is probably a good run. It's been running 24/7 the last 3yrs, eth mining with a 1070ti and AFK fishing in Black Desert Online, lol.
Anyway, cracked it open this morning, expecting it to just be the APFC cap... -
by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by tartufNote, I don't know if it's proper subforum or should I post in PSU one.
I am looking for schematics for two ATX PSUs: Seasonic G360 and FSP-350GLN. -
by Dan81As the title says - I have here a Hiper PSU model HPU-4S525 that came with a blown to smithereens APFC board, blown fuse and main caps.
So far this is what I did:
-remove the APFC board
-jumper the PFC spot on board*
-replace all capacitors - it had bulging caps on both primary and secondary
-test main FETs - all check fine
With no success so far. I temporarily replaced the fuse with a 60W lightbulb (the old fuse was blown anyways) so I could prevent any part go nuclear.
Symptoms:
-without shorting the PS_ON... - Loading...
