Is it a UPS I could trust?

There is at least on bulging cap..

It came with dried batteries (0.6 volt)

That's supposed to be 1200 VA? It's my first UPS, but I'd say it's somehow empty for such a power, isn't it?

Those noname UPS units are used to be labeled more VA than they do. That's not a problem for me as far as it does its job well and has a decent AVR circuit.

There are 2x100V 47uF Nippon Chemicon KME caps that are dried.

Is KME a good series of caps? What should I replace them with so that it won't fail again?

There is also a 1000uF 63V "Noble" bulging capacitor.

I suppose this is a general purpose cap?

Those look like FAKE Chemicons That's NOT how their underside should look like As you can clearly see on the first page of the datasheet, in the photos, and on page 3, in the diagrams.

So, the first step would be replacing them with GENUINES. They're 105deg general purpose caps, so it's not too critical if you can't get exactly those values of KME's. Just about any 105C general purpose series from a reputable manufacturer will do (Panasonic, Nichicon, Elna, UCC/NCC, Rubycon).

Because of the bungs (and sleeve colour, which should be brown for KME Series), I agree.

300??? I think you exaggerate a little.

I have seen UPS with smaller transformers, having 2 computers connected and keeping them on when disconnected from mains.

I replaced the bad caps, but it still doesn't work... When I press the power button the lcd backlight lights for a second and the ups clicks. No other signs of life.

But I noticed that the ups AC output appears to be shorted...

Any help?

Well, there is a reason one should read the manual...

I found the manual of the ups in greek and I noticed that the power button has must be pressed for 4 minutes or more for the ups to start working.... So, I did and it worked

I changed 4 caps:
2x1000uF 63V "Noble" -> 2x1000uF 63V Rubycon YXF
2x100V 47uF Nippon Chemicon KME (fake?) ->2x100V 47uF Rubycon YXF

The rest of the caps were:
6x47uF 50V "TEC"
1x10uF 50V

The ups is working. It is getting quite warm. I hope it doesn't fry the caps or the batteries.
