    Did you know that....

We just recently bought a new Linksys router (Wireless N w/ gigabit ethernet... im not gonna lie, it's nice) and the 12v switching PSU that came with it had a Bestec adapter! Surprised the hell out of me, I had no idea Bestec was now making wall-type adapters.

I was actually glad to see the Bestec name on there - better than some of the generic junk adapters that come with a lot of products, and besides caps, Bestec tends to be pretty decent most of the time.

Sorry guys, no internal pics - it's brand new and I don't want to get it all beat up from trying to open the case. I just thought it was interesting that Bestec is expanding their product line.

    Re: Did you know that....

they have been making them for a long time... thats who made the linksys g+ mimo router at my old house's wart...

on the two robotics teams I have been part of, both of the wireless n gaming adapers that are used on the bot (made by linksys) used bestec supplies. of course, we chopped them as they use a special wago connector to get 12V off of the power distribution board... no 120VAC on the bot, instead a 12v MK motocycle battery.

i found that the wart to my $12 firewire 5.25" enclosure was made by deer... it was held shut bu 2 screws and a clip... opened it up, found a hermei primary and g-luxon secondaries, recapped it (thank god the double-holed it, my caps were short and stout, not tall and thin like the originals). otherwise, it looked well built for a 1A 12v supply (more beef than most of the 1A 12v supplies i have seen)

edit- I also have a 3.8A 5v supply to a belkin usb hub... it has what appears to be the same csing as the 12V 1A deer... noname. same clip and screw routine... same PCB as well, complete with the deer logo. same double holed caps (these are short and stout). hermei on all... out of the caps to recap this one. it is essentailly the same unit with a different sticker and cord... reconfigured to run at 5v, not 12. i guess there are more deers out there...
