Re: Asus UX32VD LCD No Backlight Troubleshooting Notes

    Hello All

Just a follow up regarding my repair.

I was right, both the Ferrite Beads were blown (incinerated ). See the pictures...I provided a before and after.

I guess it would have been obvious had I taken the computer apart to begin with; but one thing I have learned is to do what you can using a meter first...take apart and fix once.

Please note to take a look at the taped area below the mother board...you my need to clean up and patch the taped area. I had to repair mine with a piece of Kapton tape.

I purchased the following parts from Mouser to do the repair:
    • BLM18PG121SN1D (0603, 120OHM @ 100MHZ, FERRITE BEAD)
    • CC0603KRX5R8BB105 (0603, 1UF CAP)...just in case

I would be more than happy to send some of my extras out to the fellow members of this forum free of charge pending you have the same issue AND that you pay for the shipping cost...my thanks for helping me fix my computer

I had no issues with breaking the computer down to make the repair...but remember I have the right equipment and experience...

    Regards

      Asus G712L No Screen Backlight
      by FallenOne008
Hi everyone, hope all is well. I have run into a problem where my backlight screen is no longer working.

The original screen was beginning to show signs of faultiness. I believe it was part of the inverter board that was going bad. The backlight for the screen was still functional at this point. Well one night as I was tinkering with the laptop, my idiot self forgot to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. I attempted to reconnect the EDP cable onto the motherboard, and as you might guess, I saw a nice spark from the cable and the port. Don't worry, I'm still kicking myself...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
      by grimacelord
      Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...
