That looks like the one mate yeah.

Hopefully it's just something simple like a blown MOSFET. Otherwise without the schematic I'm gonna have trouble with this one I think lol.

The board is completely dead apparently. Should be a bit easier to work with than those sodding non-POSTers I seem to stumble upon.

Ah well, I bought it for £20 with a presumed working Nvidia Quadro FX1600M and a T7700. So if I get it working, it's a bonus. If not, a good source of parts

Eugh been looking for about an hour, I am sure these schematics are NOWHERE apart from those 10$ each sites. :/

EDIT: Pretty sure they can be had from some Chinese site (http://www.tbenben.com/plugin.php?id...page&aid=16941) but I can't get past registration.

Re: HP 8710W No power - need schematics

Guys, made some progress. When plugging in charger the LEDs light up etc. No power. Not many voltages round the board. Found 3.3v, 19v and 0.1v in various places.

The Intel 82801HEM Southbridge gets VERY hot. Clearly something related to that.

          Cheers

EDIT: Found a very small hole in the top of it with a small discoloration. I have a feeling it may have gone up in smoke.

There's a validation question on it, and translated it doesn't make any sense.

Eitherway, I'm now 100% sure the 82801HEM is knackered. If I bought a new one with balls pre-attached and used a heatgun to solder it, would it last long-term?

              Cheers

That chinese site looks like it could be useful. Does anybody know the answer for registration? The question translates by Chrome as "is a fake horse repair network that the company LOGO? (Tip Chinese, what horse)". It doesn't translate well. We need one of our Chinese speaking members to help.

Re: HP 8710W No power - need schematics

Indeed! Then the problem is it has to be properly translated back to chinese :/

Although I no longer need these it would be nice to get them out there, clearly very hard to find.

Might give the board away to somebody because this is something an IR rework station could probably make light work of. And I no longer have time trying to reball etc.

I think the answer is "dark horse" but, as you say, it probably needs a chinese translation for the answer box.

                                    Should be this:

Check to see if your SB or NB are getting hot. Then check your always on voltages.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                                          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Hello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...
