    Lenovo X1 Yoga 1st Gen (model - 20FQ) with a locked BIOS

Hey all, I have a Lenovo X1 Yoga 1st Gen (model - 20FQ) with a locked BIOS. I would like to unlock it.

Currently I have it apart in all its glorious bits looking for the security eeprom that I can't find. Plan was to jump it. Next step I think is to pull the BIOS IC and flash a decryption file to it?? I'm a bit confused on that process.

    1. Pull the BIOS IC,
    2. Read and save the original locked file
    3. Flash the decryption file
    4. Install and boot up and remove password from BIOS
    5. Remove BIOS IC again
    6. Flash Original locked BIOS back
    7. Install and jump for joy??

Can someone let me know if I'm on the right track.

Also is there a known decryption BIOS for the X1 Yoga 1st Gen

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 1st Gen (Type 20FR) BIOS needed

Okay I believe I need to dump my locked file and attach it here and you fine people will mod it for me? Don't want to pull it till I have a solid plan.

Oh, I probably should have mentioned that when it was together, I could still get into Windows, the whole thing isn't locked, just the bios.

          Hi, friends!
I need help with my Yoga 1st Gen (20FB000QUS). I upgraded the MoBo to have 16GB, so I bought the same MoBo (14282-2M LRV1 MB 448.04P15.002M) on Aliexpress, but with the X1 Carbon 4th Gen (20FBA05ECD). I managed to edit the BIOS with the Intel ME/TXE injector tool and clean the ME and add the correct Chipset codes, but the Stylus Active Pen is not charging power. I measured the voltage on the original Yoga MoBo and it is 3.341volts/3.351volts, but on the X1 Carbon MoBo it is only 0.5volts, not enough to charge the Stylus Active Pen. This is definitely some missing ACPI code in the BIOS that releases the voltage to charge the pen, but unfortunately I don't know how to solve this problem. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it!

          Bios corrupted, or bad caps?
          by Smith84
Hello everyone. I'm new here, and I like the site! Anyway, I have a FIC SD11 mainboard. The mainboard looks ok, no bent, buldgey or leady capacitors. However it will not POST. When I turn it on, out of the case, on the mainboard box so it's not being short circuted by the case, with a know good CPU, known good memory, and known good video card, the fans spin, but no screen. I have a little PCI card that displays BIOS codes, and so I plugged that in, and it says ED and stays there forever. I looked the code up in the booklet and it means that it says "Init floppy" I thought it odd, that...

          Compaq presario 2100 bios
          by Fatal0E
A friend flashed his laptop with the wrong bios, now the thing is completely dead.
It has a small square bios chip soldered directly to the mainboard. I was curious if anyone, like TC or K8CDU, could remove, reflash and install this bios chip or if a bios chip was purchased, could one of you install it. How much if you can do this?

I do not want to touch it with my newb soldering skills.

          Bios update from hell!!!!11!
          by pentium
I finally manage to revive my prized DECpc 433dxLP system (it is also was built under the model PC473) and immediately I know what I want to use as an os:

          OS/2 2.0

I begin the install and suddenly the install aborts with an error. I scan through the OS/2 docuuments and I see that it is a problem with an older bios.

My phoenix bios is version 1.01.02 and the minimum OS/2 needs is 1.02.05D.

So I begin to search. Compaq has a library of information on the DECpc but no matter where I go and no matter what site I visit I can't find that update!...

          EFI bios - the future
          by willawake
EFI the Extensible Firmware Interface, the replacement for the BIOS will not be supported by windows vista in the intitial release at least...

          ugh........................................

Bios is basically a legacy system programmed in machine code whilst EFI will be programmed in C++ which is a much wider used language. It will allow for bios config to be done in an attractive windows kind of environment. It is a modular driver based architecture which will be easier to upgrade and debug. It will shorten boot time, it will provide full legacy support. It...
