Hello all. I've been researching this as well as other forums for the past few weeks and this is my first posting. Good to be around knowledgeable individuals.
Based on that research, I now have an EZP2019+ programmer and am attempting to clear the password on a locked bios chip.
About 2/3's of the research I have done is showing the bios chip to be closest to the memory modules (MXIC- MX 25L6406E) while about 1/3 are showing the bios chip to be on the other side of that board as a winbond 26X40BVNIG)
I have attempted to read the winbond while in circuit (no power of course) based on a modification that was found that showed chips could be read while still soldered on board by soldering a jumper cable from pin4 to ground. it does read but is very quick-maybe 4 seconds and comes up with 00.
I pulled the MXIC chip out and have it in the programmer. It also reads and takes about a minute, which tells me this is probably the correct bios chip.
I then take that .bin into HxD and search for AMITSEsetup but no results are found. When searching for AMI within HxD, 1 result comes up but its just 3 strings of hex.
Not sure what I am missing at this point.
I also understand that these readings could be posted on the forum and someone may clear the password for me, but I am really trying to learn this.
Suggestions? thanks!
