If I flashed the locked bios back then the laptop would boot but still be locked obviously. I was told that the unlock file was correct and to check my soldering, which I did and the soldering was fine as I was able to rewrite the original bios back fine and read it again. I have tried every guide on here to the best of my ability with no results, even going so far as ordering a new blank chip in case I had somehow damaged the old one and its the same issue.

Would someone please be willing to take a second look at the dumps and see if there is something keeping the unlocked file from powering on the laptop, or point me in the right direction to fix it myself?

    Thank you

I have tried several times, even re-reading the chip after flashing to compare checksums of the unlocked file and what was just flashed and they match. If I flash the locked file it will power on to the password screen so I know that the chip is being written properly but something about the unlocked file keeps it from powering on. Is there a chance something else was corrupted on the EC chip when reflashed?Any other suggestions of things I can troubleshoot?

    Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on a Dell Latitude 5420 that is locked with a BIOS password.

I've identified two different Winbond chips on the motherboard (see attached photos):
    • A Winbond W25Q256JV
    • A Winbond W25Q80DVSIG

Before proceeding with a BIOS dump and flash, I want to be sure:

Which of these two chips actually stores the BIOS password?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Dell Latitude 5400 Chromebook UEFI bios
    by jhanra
Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...
