Zbook 15u g6 bios chip location
Hi All,
Can anyone point me in the direction of the bios chip(s) for a Zbook 15u G6?
I believe it to be the same board layout as a 840 G6, too. The packages look different than what I'd normally expect, unless I'm looking in the wrong spot.

Zbook 15U G6 motherboard 6050A3022501-MB-A01-1 BIOS file Request
Zbook 15 G6 with motherboard 6050A3022501-MB-A01-1 similar to elitebook 850 G6 and 840G6 has suffered a damage in the BIOS.
Computer cannot be started and goes into a loop with fan ON keyboard leds ON all OFF and then again same infite loop. (I have a video but i cannot post)
BIOS is not posting at all
BIOS Chip MXIC_MX25L25673GZ4I_08G 6x8
Questions:
1. Can Someone post the original BIOS file?
2. Is there a way to extract this BIOS file from the most recent HP update (HP support site)
3. I will be using the programmer CH341a for programming. Since it is the first time I am doing that, are there an instructions/piece of advice/precautions ?
4. If an elitebook 850 G6 BIOS is given how will I change BIOS information to indicate that it is a Zbook 15U?
Thank you in advanceComment

Re: Zbook 15U G6 motherboard 6050A3022501-MB-A01-1 BIOS file Request
First of all please read the rules and post the laptop serial number - https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=103570 .In that thread there`s a link to the "BIOS guides, methods, resources and tools" thread, there`s some info about programming with the CH341A,and some alternative better software such as NeoProgrammer . You have a socketed bios thats good, but do you have a WSON8 adapter board to solder the chip onto,or have one with a lid, like the socket on your board ?Zbook 15 G6 with motherboard 6050A3022501-MB-A01-1 similar to elitebook 850 G6 and 840G6 has suffered a damage in the BIOS.

Its very important that you make a good backup of your own bios, even if it is corrupted in some way.It could be repairable. I would not recommend flashing any other bios until you make good backups.

Re: ZBook 15u G6 BIOS CRESCENT-6050A3022501-MB-A01
use this no need DMI data no need rebuild. flash first the 32mb leave the 16mb if it doesn't boot use both 32 and 16.
it works in these models HP EliteBook 840 G6 BIOS ZBook 15u G6

if it doesn't work use both main and ec.
you can use ch341a with neo programmer. do not use AS programmer it's outdated. or use any spi programmerLast edited by rex98; 10-05-2023, 10:11 PM.Comment

Re: ZBook 15u G6 BIOS CRESCENT-6050A3022501-MB-A01
Yes it is clear now and thanks alot for the clarifications. May I ask some questions in case the answers are known:
1. After having one or two chips flashed and on condition that system has been restored and computer has started (normal operation) will lit be possible to re-update the system the normal way or i have to always keep the given firmware you have given me.
2. Say that system is restored with one chip changed (the 32mb) will the second one EC16 will be influenced during a BIOS update?
As far as the programmer CH341a i saw that i have to do a voltage modification (voltage reduction) due to a design flaw in the power supply
Studying the reverting with resultsComment

Re: ZBook 15u G6 BIOS CRESCENT-6050A3022501-MB-A01
Everything has been rectified and the computer came alive again after the very good instructions of SMDflea and REX98
I flashed the x32 (Macronix controller) with the universal BIOS
Of course I went in detail, through the links for BIOS Guides.
Special Thanks to the above mentioned members and to all community for the knowledge put her in this excellent siteComment

Ran into an issue where I can't get my CH341 and WSON pogo pin connector to read the chip using NeoProgrammer. It's the same board/chip as alfanikos displays in this thread. Just completed removing the passwords on 2 other HP laptops so I know everything was working fine, but they were all Winbond chips.
Wondering if I'm missing something here on this MX chip or is it just a dodgy connection with my pogo connector? I did notice the solder joints are a bit more "round" so that might just be the issue.Comment

Something is up, just attempting to make the reads corrupted the BIOS and bricked it.
For some reason when I connected to the BIOS chip the power led on the laptop's mother board starts blinking. Not something I'm used to seeing when working on these zBooks.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here or if I have my CH341 configured incorrectly? It's been pretty solid even fixing 2 other zBooks a few days ago.
The usual challenges for me are getting the right contact on the chips and picking the right programming software. Neoprogrammer 2.xx has seemed to working great for me on the newer zBooksComment

Just going to provide some updates here. I upgraded myself to a T48 programmer. To test the programmer I worked on a different laptop with locked bios. An HP zBook 15u G5. It's really close to a G6 but has Winbond BIOS and EC chips vs the G6 I'm stuck on. Getting good contact on the chips with my 6x8 probe was a bit more challenging than expected but with the speed of the T48 it only took 2 or 3 read/verifies to get a good capture. Ran RC Unlocker on the EC chips 16mb file and programmed it back to the EC. Put the G5 back together and the unit came right up unlocked no problem.
So back to the G6, I got a new 5x6 probe for the MX EC chip, mine old one was bent slightly. The new 5x6 probe with the T48 worked fine, got decent contact and read/verify/RC Unlocker/Program/verify all good. Flipped the board over and took another run at the MX BIOS chip. Detect chip gives me a consistent ID, Auto Detect chip type comes up easily and finds the MX25L25673G, and launches into READ with no issues. However the read brings up a lot of missing data and I cannot get it to Verify at all no matter what.
So I switch back to my old CH341A black and NeoProgrammer, here's where things get interesting. It is really really difficult for the CH341A to pick up the MX chip or ID it. I have to wiggle the probe around and at some point it'll pick up that it's a MX25L25673L same with the ID, it can't ID the chip showing proper contact except on occasion as I move the probe around the contacts and it never holds. I'm starting to suspect something might be wrong with my 6x8 probe but I did test it with a meter I might try that again. At some point I got it to start giving me a consistent chip ID so I tried to burn rex98's universal again to the chip. I didn't verify but I did run chip ID after the Program process so see if I was still connected to the chip and I got a positive ID. Put it all back together and no change. The unit won't POST. Power LED constant orange/white 3 quick flash brief pause repeat. Switched back to the T48 to see if I can get a read, once again the software detects the MX25L25673L and chip ID quite easily, but the READ shows a lot of missing data and each read will never verify. Tried programming the rex98 bin file again with the T48 and it doesn't properly erase the chip (completes erase in 0.498seconds) then Fails when trying to self verify each time.Comment

by Focus2005Hello everyone.
I have another HP OMEN 16-C0114NW laptop with serial number 5CD1501LJX. The original problem was as follows. The laptop could not load Windows and every time it threw a bluescreen - y - most often WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. The processor that was originally in it was AMD RYZEN 7 5800H MOBILE PROCESSOR - 100-000000295. I decided to replace it with a fully functional, used AMD RYZEN 5 5600H MOBILE PROCESSOR - 100-000000296, which I got from a donor board, on which it worked 100%. After soldering the processor, I also uploaded a new, fresh BIOS to it with the UBT2 program...-

i have been working on for days a Hp Zbook Firefly 14 G8 - mobo: corvette-605qa321330-mb-a01.
Doesn't Boot - only thing working is an LED flashing orange on/off, that's it
- have tried cleaning the Main bios (ME region) which seems to have gone smoothly enough, and have re-soldered it back onto the board, but then I spotted an almost identical Bios chip near the EC on other side, but I don't know what is needed to be done with that bios ?
- i have attached my original Main and EC bios's (they are both 32mb! chips)

by grimacelordHi folks,
I'm having a hard time extracting this Dell BIOS. I have a Dell Latitude E6530 that has BIOS corruption and I need to reflash with CH341A programmer. I have already taken dumps of both the 4MB and 8MB chips on the motherboard.
Service tag number for this model is: "JYDWYW1".
Link to latest BIOS for this Service Tag: https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER05371360M/1/E6530A22.exe
I have tried:
- Simply extracting with 7zip
- PFSExtractor
- Using "/writeromfile, /writehdrfile, and /writehexfile" commands
- Check Temp folder
